Free Music Review: My First Love Never Dies
Hit: 5 Stars

From the moment I saw this film, I fell in love with the music. The music also fills my heart with the memories of my first love, who gave this soundtrack (on cassette) to me on my birthday back in 1986! This cassette has travelled all over the world with me, long after my first love and I parted ways after high school. I have recently been in touch with this person and thanked him for his precious gift of long ago. He couldn't believe that I still had the cassette! I have looked many times for this CD but to no avail. It is now time to upgrade to a CD (thnaks to Amazon.com) but I will always chereish my first cassette and the memories the music holds for me!

Free Music Review: soundtrack Somewhere in Time
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm glad I happened upon this soundtrack after all these years. Had never seen the movie but bought it for a friend (and one for myself) who was visiting Mackinac Island this summer. Bought the soundtrack with the idea of giving it to her, also, but after watching the movie and hearing the hauntingly beautiful music decided to keep it for myself! (Maybe I'll get her a copy sometime..LOL) Now that I have discovered it I play it often; to me, it almost sounds like a "prayer".

(many might wonder what rock I had been living under not to have seen the movie or been aware of the music before now.......there is an answer to that)

Free Music Review: Most beautiful music ever!
Hit: 5 Stars

The first time I heard this beautiful, haunting music was on a soap opera in the early 80's. My first cassette tape wore out and bought a second one. After the second one wore out, I purchased the CD. I also have the movie video and fell in love with that too. The most beautiful love story with the most beautiful music, what a timeless treasure! The music consoled me through the death of my two brothers and my mother. Listening to this music, I can forget all my cares and troubles, gaze upwards to the heavens and imagine the beauty of eternal life. Thank you John Barry for sharing your magnificent talent.

Free Music Review: A True Classic
Hit: 5 Stars

I honestly can't think of one negative regarding this movie. I grew up with it and after all of these years it's still my favorite love story. The music is absolutely beautiful, the actors phenomenal, and the whole setting on the movie as a whole is perfect. I've been a Christopher Reeve fan for as long as I can remember and he seemed to fit the part so well.

To go a little off track from the subject here...

It's almost erie (a good erie) that after Mr. Reeve died, his wife followed him about 2 years later and they're together again in their own happy ending love story. JMHO :)

Free Music Review: John Barry's best score ever.
Hit: 5 Stars

There has never been another score that transports the listener across time, just as Richard Collier transports himself, as effectively as "Somewhere in Time."

Although it did not win an Oscar, Barry's work on this film rivals any he has ever done, including the Academy Award winning "Dances With Wolves."

The score saves this movie from Jeannot Swarc's plodding direction, highlighting touching performances by Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour and the appropriately menacing Christopher Plummer.

"Somewhere in Time" illustrates why motion picture music is today's classical music.
