There is little on this album to distinguish House from any generic musician. From the jingoistic "American Defense," to the other flat performances, it's easy to see without looking too far that not much of this is special. The expressiveness and rhythm of a Charlie Patton or the musicianship of a Robert Johnson are absent on this uninteresting recording. If you're looking for a really good field recording, try Muddy Waters' early field recording.
