Free Music Notes for Songs in French for ChildrenFree Music Review: Same artists, different recordings but a sure classics Hit: 5 Stars
Originally recorded in the mid-fifties as iconic book-records series on Philips (today's Universal) Rondes & Chants de France in 7 volumes, beautifully illustrated by an artist and not some computer graphics, with sun- shiny covers, full lyrics and notes for each song.(Later in the 70's same books-records sold in an awful kids choir version, instead of these legendary artists - one more time a label acted stupid..)
Oddly enought this is a different recording by Lucienne Vernay and the legendary Quatre Barbus (On Sony Music, Columbia at the time) - great barber shop vocal quartet - different songs or re-recordings same songs. Still this is a pleasure to treasure.I guess it was recorded in 1956, for the American market.
Though the songs in the original nest so deeply in my soul, as I grew up on them im my Jerusalem childhood I can put this one in my car in late 07, and..well.. sing along and laugh out loud with the optimistic full of humor, intentionally charming but not "cute" interpretation.
If I can still enjoy this (and the books-records 45's, mind you, still with me)now after about 50 years since it was recorded - this what the making of classics is all about -Enjoy!!
Free Music Review: Fantastic CD! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD to introduce my daughter to French. I am a French teacher but I find it unnatural to speak to her in French (I am not a native speaker, and never spoke it at home) so I needed a way to bring French into our everyday interaction. Believe it or not, but I started playing this CD to my daughter when she was only two months old. For a month straight, all we did was sing and dance to this CD, and now that she is six months old, she still loves it. Her face lights up when the first song (her favorite) starts to play. When I am changing her diaper or getting her dressed and she is fussing at the changing table, all I have to do is press play on the CD player in her room and she starts to laugh and coo. I highly recommend this CD, but you must find the words to all the songs online if you don't know them or can't decipher them because there are no lyrics with this CD. Definitely learn the words and sing along because the songs are great and babies love to hear you sing!
Free Music Review: Great French Songs for Kids Hit: 5 Stars
This is an absolutely wonderful CD. One that I wish I'd had when my son was a baby. It has many of the traditional songs that I remember my french mother singing to me as a child. Don't worry about not recognizing the songs, even a first time listener will recognize "Old Mc Donald Had a Farm" and "Who's afraid of the big bad wolf" I particularly enjoyed this CD because even thoough these are children's songs, they are not sung in a way that caters to children (ex The Wiggles, The Chipmuncks etc...). My only complaint is that having the lyrics to refer to would've been nice as I don't remember all the words anymore and will have to listen a few times before I can get them down. I think this would be an enjoyable CD for people who understand French as well as for those who do not.
Free Music Review: Don't buy other French song CDs if you don't have this one! Hit: 5 Stars
My daughter is 20 months old and loves music, but this is by far her favorite CD. Better still, her father, brother (age 12), and I all love it, too! This is a classic collection, with traditional children's songs done in the post-war style of the 1950s. You've probably never heard any songs from it, but it's probably the album you're imagining when you think of getting a CD of French songs for your child. The language is very clear and the songs are enjoyable even if you don't know most (or any!) of the vocabulary. The only problem with the CD is that the liner notes do not include the lyrics; however, because these are traditional songs, you can find the lyrics online. If it had the lyrics in the liner, I'd want to give it 6 stars!
Free Music Review: Magnifique!! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this cd for my 6 month old, I am Quebecoise, but living in English Canada, it has been hard to find a quality french cd for my daughter. I took a chance on this one, and we all love it!! There are songs about animals, and she's learning classic french songs, from my own childhood, like Sur Le Pont D'Avignon. I even listen to the cd after she's fallen asleep in the car!!! It would be hard for a non-french speaker to understand some of the songs, but this music will never go out of style, and if you are keen on your children learning french, this is a good way to do it, although you may have to search for the lyrics online if you don't speak french.
