I have the original LP. I got in when I was in french immersion school in MD back in the late 70's. I am currently teaching my children french and am so glad to see this now comes on CD. I remember every song that I sang back in elemtary and the words of the singers so clear and the voices are such a delight to hear. This album brings back so many good memories. I understand there's a generation of American kids who grew up listening to this in French class. I sadly studied Spanish but picked this up as a grown-up and love it all the same. It's great for people learning French. When you think of it, half the purpose of children's songs is developing language skills, whatever the language. Anyway, I sing along with it in my car. I used to be fluent in French 25 years ago and I'm now trying to bring it back from the depths of my brain in order to teach it to my pre-schooler.
This CD is soooo pleasant to listen to that I can't get enough of it. We listen to it in the car and while I'm working at the computer. The songs are so cheerful and catchy that you just have to sing along! I highly recommend it!

This is a fantastic CD to introduce French to children. The arrangements of the collection of traditional songs are captivating and there are many of them.
Many of the songs are on a 45 vinal I have loved since my teens, learning French. I went looking for a CD that was similar for my 2 year old grand-daughter and was amazed that many were exactly the same arrangements.

I am trying to teach my 2 year old French, and she seems really resistant when I speak to her in French, even when it is very simple, but she loves this CD and can already sing a couple of the songs. I plan to use the same words in the songs when pointing out objects to see if she is more accepting of the new language. Anyway, this is a great buy!!!
