Free Music Review: 3 Stars for Soulfly, but 5 Stars compared to other bands out there

Ok, so I am a huge Soulfly fan and could not wait for this album to come out. But I must admit I am very disappointed in it. I LOVED DARK AGES! When you listen to that CD there are so many levels to it and I thought it was the best cd for Soulfly and if it had the name Sepultura on it, then it would have been the best Sepultura cd ever!
So I guess I just had really high hopes for this cd and I have been let down. The songs just seem like they were throw-aways from Cavalera Conspiracy and Dark Ages. Nothing is really catchy (except FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROT) at all and it just seems as if they went in over a weekend and tried to see how fast they could play. I'm sorry, but I am just not a fan of this CD.
For Soulfly this is a 3-Star CD, but compared to any other cd put out this year by other bands, this is hands-down a 5-Star cd. I will say this, get the CD/DVD combo because I do feel that DVD redeemed the fact that I thought I threw away my $20. The DVD is really awesome and I just love seeing Max play live.

I've been a Soulfly fan since the beginning, but this album is a big dissapointment. I love self-debut album, Primitive, Prophecy, and Dark Ages. Every track stands out on each one of those cd's, blend of metal and tribal is awesome. The weakest cd was obviously "3" ,title says it all. Now back to this cd, it seems like most of those tracks were just put together quickly with any typo of real effort. Seriously if I wanted to hear crappy Sepultura I would of just bought their cd....
The cd isnt great or real bad, just average/big let down. The DVD (Live from Poland) is awesome thought, shot from bunch of differeny angels, very well put together.
Free Music Review: Not the Soulfly I like...

Soulfly said that this would be their darkest album yet, but I didn't expect them to go into death metal. Really, the first song is good, then the rest is death metal. And it's like they're not even taking it seriously. With songs like 'Enemy Ghost' and 'For Those About to Rot,' among some other titles, it didn't look very good...and the sound doesn't help either. Every single song is about death. They even decided to use a death metal voice, and if that wasn't bad enough, they plugged in a lot of filler music (acoustic Brazilian stuff). A lot of their songs have some good rhythm...and then there's some where it's just about thrashing the guitar as quickly as possible. I was hoping for more Soulfly :(
