Free Music Notes for ForeverFree Music Review: THEY'RE BACK AND BETTER! Hit: 5 Stars
Honestly, I couldn't imagine these girls making a comeback. This is what you call a close-knit group. The material on "Forever" is anything but repetitious. As another reviewer wrote, this album is not a bubblegum CD. Nor is it a rap album either. What I don't get are the words "dark child" repeated in the 1st 5 tracks, by a male rappers voice. It's certainly not them. The tracks are all ballads, and in comparison to the 1st 2 CDs, the new material deserves radio play. The girls have improved immensely over the past 2 years. With a solo album for both Mel C & D, greater experience came to them. Even Emma Bunton has done a part in a pop song recently. The best songs are "Goodbye", "Oxygen", "Time goes by" and "Let love lead the way". My reason is because they are slow songs with lots of emotion and amazing vocals by Mel C. The other tracks are more upbeat, R&B based tracks. I still like them for their R&B flavor, but the slows are better. I wondered if they were going to come out with another Cd, because the girls were all scattered with either personal affairs or solo careers. Victoria Beckham seems to look better after having her baby. But that's not what's important. It's the fact that these young women have come a long way in their career. I hope they keep getting better. I don't even have the CD, but I've recorded the MP3s of the new album. This way, if I get tired of the album, I can re-record over it, without wasting money on the album. But don't let this info spoil your likes of the girls. Buy the album or download it. It's a great CD. You'll like the different taste of the Spice Girls.
Free Music Review: Very surprising return to the music world... Hit: 5 Stars
To all the Geri fans out there who think that the group can't do as well without her, just give this album a shot. It definitely surprised me. It's a totally different style and feel and groove than the first two that they did. It's also, in my opinion, their most consistent. Some of the album's highlights for me were "Tell Me Why", "Love Will Lead The Way", If You Wanna Have Some Fun", "Oxygen", "Get Down With Me" and "Right Back At Ya". Total big-ups to Rodney, Fred, Jimmy and Terry for bringing the girls into a new light musically. All four of their voices have grown so much. Gone are the chants and sing-songy melodies of yesteryear. They take a seriousness to their music and it shows. Victoria surprisingly becomes more of a mainstay in the vocal dept., doing a lot more lead chores on this offering. Mel B.'s vocal style also has improved much more over time, as well as Emma...who actually gets to share most of the ad-lib chores with Mel C. Actually, all of them get to embellish a bit, some better than others on different songs. But they're all getting a bigger piece of the musical pie, and it's very good. If this is the best way to prove themselves musically, then they've convinced me. Every so often, an artist or artists come out and becomes successful, and they follow a certain formula. But then again, as said artist(s) get older, things change...their style, image, and approach to presenting their art all change. Not too many of them are successful at it however, but with the release of this album, I would believe that the Spice Girls are one of the few that can do it for many years to come.
Free Music Review: Spice Girls Forever! Hit: 5 Stars
People said it couldn't be done, but the Spice Girls have pulled through and recorded an EXCELLENT album.Sure, it's heaps different from "Spice" and "Spiceworld", but sometimes change is a good thing, and this is an example of that. It's more R&B than their other stuff. I have to admit, I didn't like the album apart from a few tracks when I first bought it. But after you hear it a few times, you get right into it and you start to love it. "Holler" is the first track, and it's VERY R&B. It's really catchy too. "Tell Me Why" is semi-R&B, and Victoria's voice really comes out on this one. "Let Love Lead The Way" is probably the most beautiful song on the album. It makes me feel like crying every time I hear it. "Right Back At Ya" is a song written about all of the people who underestimated the Spice Girls and said they wouldn't make it, and it's also really catchy. "Get Down With Me" is a so-so song, I still don't really like it. "Wasting My Time" is one song you will NEVER be able to get out of your head, it's great. "Weekend Love" is a great song, and it is more like their old stuff. I especially like the rapping in the middle. "Time Goes By" is another beautiful song, and Melanie C has the BEST voice in this. "If You Wanna Have Some Fun" is also a song that could've been on their last albums, it's really poppy but it's great. "Oxygen" is a slower love song, and it's great. To finish the album off is the first single from the album, "Goodbye", and it still touches me today. All in all, a great album: buy it.
Free Music Review: Forever, the Best Spice Girls Album Yet Hit: 5 Stars
It's been 3 years since we've heard new music from the biggest, most successful girl-group in history, the Spice Girls. Now, with their third effort "FOREVER", released, the girls have yet again proved the power of their vocal abilities and have showed much more maturity and improvement on this album and (obviously) want to attract a new group of fans. The urban/R&B lead track "Holler" has much more taste and qualtiy when compared to their previous singles ("Wannabe" "Stop"), and so do the rest of the tracks of FOREVER, including "Right Back At Ya" and "Get Down With Me." The ballads on the album are extremely well-written and have much more feeling and expression than their anterior ballads ("Too Much" "Two Become One"). "Let Love Lead the Way," "Oxygen" and "Time Goes By" are perfectly written and have much more poignancy and affection from what "SPICE" and "SpiceWorld" had to offer. This is, no question about it, the best Spice Girls album ever released, and it's great the girls are back and trying different styles of music. The reason some people may not like it is because of the lack of "Cheesy-Pop" the girls supplied on their first two albums, but the girls can't make that genre of music 'forever.' Their first albums had so little proposal when compared to "FOREVER." The girls give both more maturity and quality on this album. There is no Spice Girls fan out there that cannot find something to enjoy on this album. This is simply one of the best albums released this year.
Free Music Review: A new, funky Spice Girls... Hit: 5 Stars
With time comes change and no other group seems to do that better than the Spice Girls. After two years, two babies, two marriages, one divorce, being called too fat, too thin, lesbian, heterosexuals, and billions of other media rubbish, they have managed to write an album which doesn't dissapoint. With a definate darker sound and more glamourous image, the Spice Girls have changed with the times, and done so correctly. The music may be slicker, funkier, and more R and B, but this does not dismiss the same cathcy chorus' and cheeky lyrics the Spice Girls are known so well for. "Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge, tell me do ya like the rudest stuff" is just a preview of the fun lyrics used on this album, proving there is still plenty of spice left after Geri, contrary to what others may think. Stand-out tracks include "Tell Me Why," a great number with rich, dark vocals from Victoria and excellent harmonies on the bridge and chorus, a surefire R&B hit. "If You Wanna Have Some Fun" is a heck of a lotta fun with an old school swing beat and catchy lyrics. Welcome the new disco spice era! "Oxygen" is a warm ballad full of soft vocals and unique sound effects, and possibly the girls best chorus to date. Of course you have the UK number ones "Holler/Let Love Lead the Way" and "Goodbye" added on to that list, as well as an additional number of well written, funky and fresh tracks. I think it is safe to say, as "Right Back At Ya" states, "..the girls are back in town again," and my are we glad they are.
