Free Music Review: Well-arranged and written pop music
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of my favorite pop music CDs ever. For some weird reason Europeans write better pop music than America. Unlike Britney Spears' pop-dance songs that recycle the same melody and rhythm and just change the lyrics, each song in this album is unique and has a different vibe that is distinguishable from each track to another. "Wannabe" is a strong pop song that screams just what the Spice Girls want out of their mouths, which is GIRL POWER all the way. "Say You'll Be There" shows the vocal harmony of the girls, and "2 Become 1" is a beautifully-written pop ballad. The lyrics are just right and the girls sound great in this song. "Mama" is a perfect song to sing to your mother, for a pop song, it sure seems to sound straight from their hearts. Other songs like "Who Do You Think You Are", "Love Thing" (I LOVE the interchanging of Geri and Mel B's rapping here) and "If You Can't Dance" are great songs with a good vibe and vocals to listen to. Great album.

Free Music Review: Pop with Power!
Hit: 5 Stars

Okay, the Spice Girls quickly turned into the joke of the decade. But why? What was so bad about them? Their decent pop music? Entertaining antics? Inspiration to young females accross the globe? I just don't see it.

But this review shouldn't go there. This is about their album and it's a very solid pop album at that! Forget the over-sexed, over-produced pop of Britney Spears and the like. The Spice Girls had and still own their own pop sound. It was unique and strong!

Lyricly, the songs weren't any great achievements. But they were quite catchy lyrics which didn't really admit to much nor really got too preachy. As for the music itself, pure pop magic! Every song was oozing with sound. And their voices, while not being anything amazing, worked together and each had it's own charm and individuality.

Songs to look for on this album include the unforgetable "Wannabe", "Say You'll Be There", the ballad "2 Become 1", and the always fun club hit, "Who Do You Think You Are"!

Free Music Review: Album Review
Hit: 5 Stars

Spice doesn't need to be original to be entertaining, no do the Spice Girls need to be good singers. It just has to be executed well, and the innocuous dance-pop of Spice is infectious. None of the Girls have great voices, but they do exude personality and charisma, which is what drives bouncy dance-pop like "Wannabe," with its ridiculous "zig-a-zig-ahhh" hook, into pure pop guilty pleasure. What is surprising is how the sultry soul of "Say You'll Be There" is more than just a guilty pleasure, and how ballads like "2 Become 1" are perfect adult contemporary confections. The rest of the album isn't quite as catchy as those first three singles, but it is still an irresistible, immaculately crafted pop that gets by on the skills of the producer and the charisma of the five Spices. Sure, the last half of the album is forgettable, but it sounds good while it's on, which is the key to a good dance-pop record. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Free Music Review: Who do they think they are?
Hit: 5 Stars

I think The Spice Girls are really good - better than SClub7definatly. Wannabe is still really good even now but my favourate is Who Do You Think You Are. I like their dance moves and they have got good voices - all really talented girls. Scary is my favourite, but Posh is aslo good. The fact that the Spice Girls are the perfect manifestation of a syndrome whereby talentless "artists" sell their souls to the faceless corporations that have taken over the music industry for the big buck and the adulation of mindless teenage girls the world over, and that they regurgitate the slick, bland, manufactured sounds of anonymous session musicians who make millions out of this kind of exploitative "music" because they don't have the integrity to make music which says something and means something is symptomatic of the manner in which we are all letting creativity, originality and adventurousness in art become marginalised. Come to think of it, Baby is my favourite.
