Free Music Review: A Greatest Hits of Sorts...
Hit: 5 Stars

Rather than following up "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" with something completely different as is typical with Spoon, they instead chose to make a record that does not pick one specific focus, but rather draws from all of their past albums. Each song feels as if it were taken from a previous albums lost track. This is by no means a bad thing, as all of their past albums have been excellent in their own right. At first glance though, this leads to a seemingly fragmented album, a hodgepodge of influences that will leave you scratching your head. Though after a couple listens, it becomes much more clear, this is an ode to Spoon. This album is a look back on what they have done, a reminder of their past work, but at the same time, each song is not simply a replica of old ones, they're more than that, they're experiments, and most of them work. While a few of the songs seem rather strange and simply put, awful, the album as a whole is magnificent, and is certainly one of my favorite albums by Spoon, second only to Kill the Moonlight and possibly Gimme Fiction. It's not at all what I was expecting, but then again, that's why I listen to Spoon.

Free Music Review: Quickly becoming my favorite...
Hit: 5 Stars

After three or four listens this is becoming one of my favorite Spoon albums. The album sounds more like their early stuff with some new . A little less polish, a little more soul. I like the fact that they didn't play it safe with another super easy-listening pop album. This one challenges you. Goodnight Laura sounds unlike anything they've done before. Nobody gets me but you is an instant classic. Could be the single. So could Written in reverse or mystery zone. Go back and listen to Ghost of you Lingers, that song could have been on this album. As of right now, the albums I like the most are Gimme Fiction, this one, and Girls can tell. But I wouldn't kick any of them out of bed for eating crackers.

Free Music Review: Nice job here!
Hit: 5 Stars

All of these people claiming to be longtime fans and saying they can't get this album are crazy! Sure it's not Gax5 or Gimme Fiction but who wants a repeat of that. I'm tired of seeing good indie bands sell out (i.e. Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse). Sure this is a more subdued effort but after letting this soak in it has some really great tracks. "Nobody gets me but you" is simply an amazing slow burner. Is Love Forever, The Mystery Zone, Written in Reverse, Trouble Comes Running, and Out Go the Lights are great as well. Trouble Comes Running is an uptempo gem. Check this CD out - I like the fact it is subdued as it gives a transparent view of the band.

Free Music Review: spoon stays consistent
Hit: 5 Stars

i've been a spoon fan for a number of years. i was so excited to listen to this album and on first listen i kinda of just went "meh." however, like with most things i knew that i couldn't rush to judge and i let this album play on repeat for a few listens. after the 3rd or 4th spin this album really hit me! now i don't go a day without listening at least twice through. its true what people say about it not immediately grabbing you with hooks and melodies like ga and gimme did, but they are there in abundance on this album nonetheless. they are buried a little deeper and the grooves they hit are amazing. i can't wait to see what they do next.

Free Music Review: Can these guys make a bad album?
Hit: 5 Stars

No! Spoon can't make a bad album! Proof is on "Transference." Ever since 2002's "Kill the Moonlight," Spoon has been making great music. "The Underdog," "Don't You Evah," that song from the O.C., etc. Spoon are just another reason why s****y singers like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber are taking the spotlight away from real artists like Spoon. The best songs ont his album are 'The Mystery Zone," "Written in Reverse" and "Got Nuffin'." Spoon really show off their talent on this CD. Buy it immediately and stop supporting dumbs***s like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus and listen to some real music.
