Free Music Notes for TransferenceFree Music Review: I tried to love this, but there's nothing there. Hit: 2 Stars
Spoon's famous minimalism has always suggested freedom and space; but the threadbare vibe of "Transference" suggests instead a blatant lack of hooks / passion / ideas. Oh, and a lack of a Producer, too: Spoon's always taken a "kids in a candy store" approach to recording, but "Transference" shows that they need an adult on hand as well -- if only to pay for all those goodies....
Free Music Review: Bummer Hit: 2 Stars
They should have used a producer. Sorry Spoon, but your new album is a complete disappointment. I hope you got making an upscale demo out of your system and get back to the class act rock band that you have been prior to putting out this crap.
Free Music Review: Huuuuge dissapointment Hit: 1 Stars
I've purchased every album from Telephono to Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga and have listened to these guys for over a decade, but this last release wouldn't have made the cut on an album of extras from the Series of Sneaks session. I tried to give it time but the lyrics just seemed to get worse and the music more banal. I realize now that I've taken their consistency for granted. I simply thought it would never end and every record would be amazing in it's own way, but they've definitely proven me wrong. Very very sad release. One can only hope that they get back into the studio as soon as possible and hopefully get back to the band they were before they farted out this piece of garbage.
Free Music Review: Disappointing in every respect Hit: 1 Stars
I don't understand why everyone rates this album so highly.
Every song starts reasonably well and you wait for the song to develop but nothing happens resulting in every song sounding very boring. Which is a shame cause the lead singer has a cracking voice.
I also saw them live last week and like the album they were distinctly very average.
So many better bands are out there at the moment, have a listen to Mumford and Sons as an example of guys with exceptional talent.
Free Music Review: Speed bump... Hit: 1 Stars
Just when things were getting better and better, WHAM! - Spoon laid an egg. I don't think there's a single good track on this record. Even Britt Daniel said he thought this one "sucked" in an interview just prior to its release. Let's hope that means he'll be back on track with the next one.
