Free Music Review: Oh my God...
Hit: 5 Stars

There is simply no way to describe the emotion and greatness of this CD. I've had it over a year now and I still listen to it nonstop, and plan to keep listening to it for a long time.

I got this CD after hearing "Save Yourself" on the radio a few times. I had no idea who they were or anything, so I got the CD. Little did I know that this was soon to be my most favorite CD ever made.

This is one of the few CDs that really sound like the songs are meant to be in the order they are in. Each song flows beautifully to the next (one exception--Goodbye to When I'm Dead should definatly be changed!). Lyrically and emotionally, it really is a trip.

The CD starts off with the scary title track. The beginning to this song can be pretty freaky if you happen to be in the right mood. Following up is the song "Everything I Touch", which is a cool song, but it really isn't 'pleasing to to the ear', so to speak. It always bugs me when the distortion slams in before the chorus every time, but it's still okay. "How Can I Hold On?" is a song that really caught my attention. The guitar line is awesome, and it provides a mellow listening experience. "Drug Store", like "Everything I Touch", isn't that beautiful, and is really more of a Gothic-sounding song. "You Complete Me" is actually a pretty happy song, and is very good. "Save Yourself" is one of the best songs on the CD. It's a somewhat angry song featuring cool sound effects and an awesome beat. Track 7, "Haunting Me", is another somewhat happy song, like "You Complete Me". It is a little less cheerful, though. "Torn Apart" is simply awesome. I don't know why they don't play this one on the radio! It's got an awesome guitar riff, and a chorus that will rock your world. It's one of my favorites. After this song, the CD takes a dramatic turn emotionally. "Sometimes It Hurts" is a sad song, but EXTREMELY good. They play this one on the radio, too. It's a slow song, and you can't really help but to loose your smile when listening to this song. Track 10, "Drowning", is just plain depressing. The song title fits the song perfectly--a lone, slow-playing synthesizer, and low vocals make this song one of the saddest on the CD. The song is all about feeling completely alone and sad. Blending into the next song, "Desperate Now" is the saddest song I've ever heard. When the chorus hits in this song it's like you can't help but to shivver--it's just so sad it's unbelieveable. The song is about someone who feels useless, and a few other depression-related feelings. "Goodbye" is a short song with a single, pulsating guitar riff. If they had ended the CD on this song I'm sure a few of the people I know who also like this CD would just start crying. In this song the same person in "Drowning" and "Desperate Now" decides to commit suicide, and he is saying goodbye to all his friends. The one lyric that gets ya every time is when he says "And if there's one thing that I've learned from life--it's that it gets you in the end. So goodbye my friend. Goodbye." That lyric concludes this song. Now, Stabbing Westward could've gradually gotten louder, but no. After this slow, quiet song is over, "When I'm Dead" launches in with the lead singer screaming "DIEEEEE! " and pounding guitars. It's a great song, but I really wish they would've made the transition between "Goodbye" and "When I'm Dead". "On Your Way Down" is an angry/sad song, and really sticks out from the rest. A lyric from this song says "I hope I see you on your way down. I hope you break every bone. I hope it kills you on your way down. And I hope you die alone." It's truely a good song. Now... the last song on the CD, and I must say, this is the best song on the CD. After the entire 55 minutes of sadness, they put the perfect ending. It's a sad song, but instead of suggesting that the event will lead to suicide, there is hope at the end of this song. Really the whole song is about someone who's love swore they would never leave, and then one day they did. The chorus is unbelieveable. This song rules.

Well that's it. YOU MUST GET THIS CD! Stabbing Westward deserves millions of times more credit for this CD than they are getting, so do them and yourself a favor and GET IT!
