Free Music Review: A Fun Christmas Record Hit: 4 Stars
Stacie Orrico's first album, GENUINE, has exploded on the pop scene thanks to its superb mix of pop and R&B sounds. This new Christmas EP, CHRISTMAS WISH, shows Stacie daring to sway from the formula that made her successful and try new things. Dare I say that we're looking at a real artist here?CHRISTMAS WISH is a six song EP that abandons most of the pop accessibility of GENUINE and sits squarely in light R&B territory. Think Brandy rather than Alicia Keyes. Stacie spices it up on a few upbeat tracks and then shows her soulful side on songs like "O Holy Night." The good thing is that she's soulful without going overboard, like some young R&B diva-types feel they must do. The (new) title track is probably the most pop cut from the album; it is also my favorite. If you're looking for a traditional sounding Christmas album, this is not what you want. However, if you are searching for a record with a good groove, give CHRISTMAS WISH a shot. I applaud Stacie for showing the willingness to try new things, and look foreword to what her next full-length project has in store. There's a lot of talent in this girl and if she plays her cards right she should be around for a long time. CHRISTMAS WISH gets a solid THREE 1/2 STARS.
Free Music Review: Stacie Orrico - Christmas Wish Hit: 4 Stars
First off I want to say that I love Stacie Orrico and I think she is very talented. However her mix of urban beats that take from her debut album "Don't Look at Me" just don't mix with the traditional Christmas songs(Oh Holy Night, What Child is this, Oh come ye Faithfull). Vocally its very impressive Stacies voice gracefully and masterfully floats over each song with ease and skill beyond her years, her voice is rich, sweet, and smooth perfect for Christmas music. The original Christmas songs(Love Came Down and Christmas Wish)here are good. However instrumentally is where this CD fails. It fails to bring in the Christmas spirit. It would have been nice if they used some guitar or strings in here somewhere. But the one song that will bring Christmas cheer and past memories would be "White Christmas" which for this CD being so cheap is worth buying it just for that alone. I was a little bit disapointed. But still pretty good, but if you are looking for a more traditional sound I'd go for Charlotte Churches "Dream a Dream". So *enjoy* Stacie Orrico's "Christmas Wish" you may like it alot!!! God Bless ~Amy
Free Music Review: We loved it!! Hit: 4 Stars
Find myself singing the first cut..."do do-do-do-do do do do..." from "Love Came Down" (not too loud--not cool in front of my daughter--it's her CD)!! Sure feels like Christmas to me! Stacie is such a doll! (From a 35-year-old mom of an 11-year-old who loves Stacie's music.) We saw her sing live at Legoland in California last summer, and she has an AMAZING voice. What a talented young lady--the Lord has surely gifted her, and she uses it to His glory. O Holy Night is one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time..the lyrics really bring out the true reason the Son of God came..."long lay the world in sin and error pining...'til He appeared and the soul felt it's worth"...Her heavy R&B version--honestly--took a little time to grow on me--and I grew up on R&B--Qunicy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Prince kind of stuff-- but I love how she thinks and does her music "outside the box"--very fresh and different...something Christmas songs need!
