Free Music Notes for Chapter VFree Music Review: Chapter V(ery good) Hit: 5 Stars
Chapter V is all about balance. Staind's fifth release takes the angst of "Break the Cycle" songs such as "It's Been Awhile" and "Outside" and the hopeful sound of "14 Shades of Grey) songs like "Zoe Jane" and "Tonight" and blends them perfectly, giving fans of the band's different efforts a compromise. The opening section of "Run Away" gives an instant taste of the entire album, with a major riff over minor chords. "Right Here," the album's first single, has angst-laden verses followed by a hopeful chorus (not to mention a jaw-dropping guitar part), showing fans what the band can really do. "Paper Jesus" is one of the harder songs on the albums, and shows a little more of the desparate side of the band's writings. "Schizophrenic Conversations" instantly balances, however, the hard/soft level of the album, with a softer (although still more on the angsty side) sound. The fifth track, "Falling," takes on a slightly new approach, as a figure who does not have a problem, but who is speaking to someone who does. "Cross To Bear" still shows the angst side of things, but with more conviction and independence than other tracks. "Devil" touches on the guilt aspect of a shattered relationship, softly stating, "I swear I'm not the devil." The title and the opening riff of "Please" should prepare fans for exactly what they're getting; a desparate cry of desparation. Probably the most angsty track of the entire album, this song touches every aspect of dysfunction from apathy to zealous overbearance. If the album seems to be more angst than hope at this point, "Everything Changes" should help bridge the gap a little, looking at a broken relationship that seems to be looking up. "Take This" leaves the gap about the same place, with an even balance of hope and angst. "King of all Excuses" is a heavy track showing off Staind's real power, with a message condemning the liar. The real equalizer of the album's angst/hope teeter-toter is "Reply," with the lyrical message all revolving around two words: "Thank you."
Free Music Review: Staind - Chapter V Hit: 5 Stars
This album is a good mix of dysfunction, break the cycle, and 14 Shades of Grey.
It starts off slightly heavy,to mild, then get's heavier, and better towards the end.
Chapter V is yet another example of how talented aaron, mike, Johnny, and Jon are.
The lyrics are really good, and deep.
This album is well balanced between heavy songs, and melow songs.
There are such slow, acoustic songs like"devil", "Schizophrentic Conversations", "Right Here","Take This", and "Everything Changes".
And there are heavy, agressive songs like "Run Away", "Paper Jesus", "Falling", "Please", my personal favorite "King of All Excuses", and "Reply".
I'm not gonna go through each song, but i am gonna say that if you liked both dysfunction, and 14 Shades of Grey, then you'll like Chapter V.
This CD sounds different from their previous albums...unlike break the cycle where every song had acoustic guitar...this album doesn't have that...there isn't any screeming in it until almost the end.
"King of all Excuses" is the only song where aaron lewis screems.
The guitar has changed a little too, it's still heavy...if not heavier then previous albums.
At the end of "reply" Mike Mushok adds a nice long solo...which is totally new to the staind albums.
14 Shades of Grey was more of a personal thing for aaron lewis, and this CD isn't really about aaron, but about relationships, suicide, and stress.
The CD drags a little at the beginning, but gets better and better until the end.
I have been a staind fan since the beginning, and i've watched how the band has grown...Chapter V is another page of their Journey.
This album is really good, and i recomend it to everyone.
Free Music Review: Right Here Waiting Hit: 5 Stars
Luckily, they have nothing to do with Richard Marx. They've never had. Even when Lewis was seen in one video with Spears.
But those who expect no changes in this band will always be disappointed, since we all know, Everything Changes, including Aaron, his lyrics, Staind as a band and their music, and nothing can ever stay the same.
It is a good idea to try and count heavier songs on this CD and pretend they are almost off Dysfunction and be happy at the seeming return of the band to the old times. But in fact there are no more old times and no Staind of 1997, they've simply changed, and that's the most common trend in this world.
The most important thing is they have remained highly talented musicians that are still able of creating extremely beautiful music. I honestly hated their 14 Shades of Grey and couldn't stand more that a couple of listens, except probably for the nice Zoe Jane, and I was afraid of giving a chance to Chapter V, as much as of losing my very last trust in this band. How much I was wrong! The band is literally back for me, hopefully, for long, since I am shocked with a beauty of songs they have on the recent release, no matter if those are heavy or mellow, the Staind's spirit itself and their indisputable talent are both on here and shine as bright as before.
The plain scores are:
1. Run Away - 3/5
2. Right Here - 5/5
3. Paper Jesus - 3/5
4. Schizophrenic Conversations - 4/5
5. Falling - 4/5
6. Cross to Bear - 5/5
7. Devil - 4/5
8. Please - 6/5!
9. Everything Changes - 5/5
10. Take This - 3/5
11. King of All Excuses - 3/5
12. Reply - 4/5
Try not to miss this.

Ok first off, the person who did the review on this cd is an idiot.
