Free Music Notes for DysfunctionFree Music Review: Emotionally brutal, great cd Hit: 5 Stars
Staind is probably one of the best bands around today. I got a sampler tape early last year, I'd say February, and it had 2 songs on it. There was "Suffocate" and then "Just Go", and at first listen, I though that it was good, but labeled them as Alice In Chains rip-offs. Boy was I wrong. I eventually heard "Mudshovel" on the radio, and knew that these guys kicked some coccyx. I saw them play with Limp Bizkit a good 3 or 4 months later and knew that I HAD to go get this cd. The music was intense and the vocals even more-so. So I went to the cd store the day after and picked up Dysfunction. I rushed home and popped the cd into my cd player and wasn't dissapointed with what I heard. Every single song was awesome and they didn't sound like Alice In Chains anymore. The music was WAY heavier and Aaron's vocals were much more in your face. My favorite songs are "Home", "Crawl" , and the secret song "Excess Baggage". The first line in Excess Baggage is one of the best lines ever written in self abuse - "Well I know the words, but I can't really speak them to you". This is truly a dark, dark, beautiful cd and definately worthy of your purchase.
Free Music Review: Best Rock Album of the Year(seriously!) Hit: 5 Stars
Ok,you porbably think I'm exaggerating a bit,but this is trulyTHE Rock Album of the Year.Korn-Issues was good, but the lyrics wereoff on good songs.Limps's Significant Other was good too,but some songs were too "moshpitty".But Staind's "Dysfuntion" has everything both of those albums didn't have: Matching lyrics to awesome songs and not as much "moshpit-like" songs. My favs include "Just Go","Me","Home",& "Spleen",but every song is great.Thee song on here has got to be "Crawl".It starts out kinda bad,but it gets better, and the hook is awesome:"And I crawl, while you spit. And I crawl, through"."Me" is good too,but I would like to change the lyrics to match my life situation."Spleen" has a good ending:"Don't understand it,your killing this planet, the scabs on the face it's a... discrace i blame you.I blame you.I BLAME YOU(Repeat 4X)",but again i would like to change the lyrics, but to take out the "Shut Up" part at the end.Get "Dysfunction",and if you like dark-themed rock music,i recommened System Of A Down, and listen to "Spiders" cuz it's a kick ass song.Later.
Free Music Review: Fred Durst helped sign this guy? U da man! Hit: 5 Stars
Wen i first heard about Staind i was like...yepp..nuther no good band *like most bands*...that has like only one good song on the record...but gettin mp3 after mp3 of Staind's music made me find that "Hey! this is a really great band! " Aaron *the frontman* has a awesome voice...u can sense anger, remorse, and fear in his tone of voice. Its more of a grunge/metal...It has the few songs that are a lot like somthin of Korn...but also has a Seattle grunge type sound. I dont have time to explain it.. but it is definately one of the best albums I have ever heard. Dont make the 9 track thing bother you...after listening to it...u dont care how many tracks there are..cuz u can listen to the tracks over and over without getting tired of it. This cd knocks out my NiN music in my disc changer..and thats a hard thing to do *ITS THAT GOOD* Now..ok...take my word for it or do what i did and download some mp3s of it....Whatever u do tho...dont ignore it..U will hate yourself for it.BTW-did u know Staind has another album named "Torment"? If u are interested in gettin this cd..get it ...cuz it is sooo rare..it isnt boughtable NEwhere else *not that I know of*
Free Music Review: One of the best metal albums of 1999 Hit: 5 Stars
In 1999, some rap rock bands had an amazing time. Well, not as many people noticed Staind, as they have a departure sound of many other rap rock bands. It gets the computer screams in the songs. The exception is Me. It is a meaningful song about how he never had much of a family life. And the best rock albums were The Fragile by NIN and this one. Also, even though they are introduced by Limp Bizkit, I think this is even better than LIMP's debut. And I love the lyrics because they can relate to many peoples' lives. "Mudshovel" was the first song that introduced me to them. I loved that song. Then I also heard the second single, "Home." It was okay, but I bought it and liked all 9 tracks. Well that's not all, there's a hidden track way after "Spleen". Spleen is a great song. Just after he keeps on screaming it gets melodic, and in addition, A Flat is pretty good. Even though I spend most of my money on industrial and punk albums, can't mean that I don't like this. I listen to Cold too, a band with Staind-type lyrics. Buy this album as long as you don't feel that Aaron Lewis, Mike M. and Co. are all Limp Bizkit wannabes.
Free Music Review: Fred did a good job finding Staind! Hit: 5 Stars
I am a huge Limp Bizkit fan and when I got "Significant Other" and heard "Show Me What You Got," Fred mentioned Staind. That's how I was introduced to the band. I went online and looked them up and though they sounded great. I just bought the CD, which for some reason, is getting harder to find where I live so buy it now cuz this band might just explode like Limp Bizkit did. This is one of those CD's that you can put in your player and just let it play without jumping from track to track cuz some are good and others aren't good at all. CD's like that are hard to find now. There are only a few out like that. Now, if you like Limp Bizkit you may not like Staind. Limp Bizkit is a metal/hip-hop group. You won't find any hip-hop vocals on "Dysfunction." But I like both LB and Staind. They both fit nicely into any CD collection if you like metal. Staind is doing the same thing Limp Bizkit did when Korn found them. Korn helped market Limp Bizkit and that's what Limp Bizkit is doing for Staind now that they are huge. Fred did a great job of finding and helping Staind. No wonder Fred is the VP of Interscope!
