Free Music Review: Back when Staind was Staind
Hit: 5 Stars

I remember when I was nearing the end of my senior year of High School and "Break the Cycle" came out. I listened to it and actually thought it was a great cd. Then "It's Been Awhile" got a whole bunch of radio airplay, and I was disappointed by all the people who only liked that song and had never bothered to even listen to the rest of the album, or any of their previous albums. I was introduced to Staind by the songs on Dysfunction, and when Limp Bizkit and Korn were at their peak, it was refreshing to hear something that did not have remenants of hip-hop in it. Instead it was 100% kick ass rock. Angry, and heavy. Thats what came to mind when I thought of Staind from 1999 til 2002. Now I can imagine families going to their concerts and having a picnic. Kind of like what happened to Creed after "With arms wide Open" Back in the days of Dysfunction and BTC, that wouldn't have ever entered my mind. I hate to say this...but this record was made back when Staind was Staind. If you want to get into Staind check out this one first, and then decide if you like the rest of it. Don't start from the new stuff and then backwards.

Free Music Review: Metal Doesn't Much Better Than This!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I consider this to be staind's best album. It contains my all time favorite of their songs "Me". Aside from their Very Rare first album, this is their heaviest. It showcases the band before radio got ahold of them. The sound is more raw and personal, which gives it an almost thrash metal edge at times and Aaron Lewis has a voice that can chill you to the bone and almost make you cry at the same time. It's not a wonder that there are a lot of copycats of these guys. I have loved this record since it first came out and I saw the video for "Home" on MTV (Back when they actually played videos). This band has slightly let me down with their later releases.....with the exception of "Chapter V"...An amazing record itself. It may only have nine songs, making one of the genres shorter albums..But they pack a lot into those nine songs. There isn't a single dull moment on this disc....It starts out with a harsh bang (Suffocate)and ends in the exact same way with (Spleen)....There is also a hidden acoustic track at the end called "Excess Baggage". This album is a must have for those of us who appreciate metal.

Free Music Review: Secret track on no# 9, at about 17 minutes
Hit: 5 Stars

Staind, is one of the best bands i have ever listened to.
This alblum displays all of their qualitties as a band.
This si a quick walkthrough of all the songs:
1. This song if i can say so is one of the lesser songs on the track.
2. Good song. I really like the guitar effect. This is sort of the "Bad Word" song. THey say "bad words in it. Not like we really care; just a heads up.
3. I think he's singignig about his family or sumthin?
4. "Raw". Pretty cool. Sort of a screamer.

5. Mudshuvel. One of Staind's best songs. If this was the only good song on the whole cd I'd still buy it. That's how good ittis.
6. My personal favorite on the alblum. The giutarist( Mike) does a lot of little variations that keeps it interesting.
7. Pretty good song. Changes from screaming to regular alot
8. Another song i donot listen to much.
9. Another on e of staind's best songs. "CAN"T BREATH!! SHUT UP SHUT UP! CAN"T BREATH!" so sayeth aaron lewis....
Fastforward to about 15 minutes for a little acoustical peice by lewis.*

Free Music Review: Raw & Hard-hitting
Hit: 5 Stars

Dysfunction is Staind's major label debut, which sadly enough didn't get half the airplay that their latest outing did. Dysfunction is a collection of 9 heavy, emotional and powerful songs. It might be a bit of a different listen for someone who just started Staind on Break the Cycle, but it is still just as good. My favorite song on the entire CD still has to be "Mudshovel" (It's very rare that I choose a single as a favorite). It's the most dynamic song on the album, with great guitar work courtesy of band guitarist Mike Mushok. "Raw" and "Crawl" are two other standouts, however, the real gem on this CD is the secret track "Excess Baggage" which you have to fast forward about 15 minutes past Spleen to get to. It is probably one of my favorite Staind songs of all-time. I wish they would have included it as a regular track so I don't have to fast forward, but oh well. Pick up Dysfunction even if you are just curious, you can't go wrong with it. Just an all around great CD. Check it out if you like Cold, Korn, Tool, and Sevendust.
