Free Music Notes for The Illusion Of ProgressFree Music Review: Staind Album I've Been Waiting For! Hit: 5 Stars
The Illusion Of Progress takes Staind to heights I never thought they could hit. Obviously the songs are still there in their infancy and Aaron's lyrics still hit home bigtime. BUT: their approach is totally different. I think they've become comfortable with their talent. Mike doesnt' feel the need to lower tune on every song, and I'll be damned if he doesn't cut loose and solo like crazy. He's always hidden his true talents. As usual, drums and bass are the VIP of this band: solid, bedrock and strong. Aaron finally feels he can expand. The steel guitars on "Tangled"; the choir and FLoyd feel of "Corner" and the total catharsis in "Way I AM". This must have been like when Pink Floyd moved from Meddle to Dark Side. C'mon fans, celebrate OUR band moving to the next level after a decade of darkness!!! Did I mention Beleive and All I Want will be on radios and ipods for the next 2 years?????
Free Music Review: Best Staind album to date! Hit: 5 Stars
I didn't have big expectations when I first listened to this album, as I had only just liked one and one song from their previous albums. But as I listened to the CD from the beginning to the end, I realized I loved every single song on this album! And it gets better as you listen to it more often. Aaron Lewis has the most amazing voice in the entire rock business, and the songs from Illusion of Progress have such an amazing melody, it just makes you really want to listen to the album, and listen to it again and again. There are soft songs, acousting songs and really upbeat catchy songs. My personal favourites were "Devil", "The Corner", "The Way I Am", "All I Want", "Pardon Me" and "Schizophrenic Conversations".
In the end, it's an album where you'll never feel like skipping a song! Definately worth buying. Best of Staind so far! Thumbs up!
Free Music Review: Staind's 'Swan Song' Hit: 5 Stars
I'd been wondering when Aaron would reach that bittersweet moment in life where one can stand back and say, "This is now, that was then. Wow, look how things have changed..." The painful memories remain, though they mellow out and adopt a bittersweet savor.
That's what I hear from this album (particularly 'The Corner'), which I avoided at first because of the somewhat stagnant title. However, you don't need to agree that progress is a consummate illusion in order to enjoy this album. Just some patience - it grew quickly on me once I listened a few times.
This may or may not be Staind's last album, though I take the last few songs to be a farewell. In any case, damn guys, job well done...
Free Music Review: Staind!!!! WOW Hit: 5 Stars
Frist Id like to say I love this album, its got everything except the hard stuff, Aaron Lewis is amazing Ive been a fan ever since they came out and will always be one. I can say although the record sounds awesome I do as well miss the heavy thrashing that was in there first two albums.
I was pretty upset though that Something like me was not on this cd, Im waiting to hear the finished version with the panio Aaron, whats with that!
I gave it 5 stars cuz I would with every Staind album but in my heart I give it a 3 and half, cuz I want more angry white man music, but I guess Stain can pull at the heart strings, while the new Slipknot can feed my hungry for Metal. Hope this helps!! Thanks
Free Music Review: STAIND'S PROGRESS IS AN ILLUSION Hit: 5 Stars
Firstly, I'll admit I'm liking the album. However, like so many Staind devotees I'm feeling more and more let down by the album. TORMENTED gets a 10 for its heaviness. DYSFUNCTION gets a 9, CYCLE gets 8, SHADES = 6, V = 5 and ILLUSION = 3. I once faulted Fred Durst for this trend. However, I think this may be Aaron's traveling direction and if so it's not a horrible one. It's just that us fans from '99 that loved it when we first heard "Mudshovel" must come to terms, there may never be another TORMENTED... DYSFUNCTION... CYLCE... and we can live with that the same way we did when we first embraced "Home, "It's Been Awhile" and "Outside." This album is Chapter VI in the Book of Aaron.
