Free Music Notes for Stand By Me: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: If you love the jukebox.... Hit: 5 Stars
A dandy of a soundtrack filled with a set of 10 songs from the era of Cadillac's and corner malt shops. It surprised a lot of people who saw the movie and bought the soundtrack that Elvis, with his fun bop or sweet croonin' would be exempt from this beauty. The stars here more than make up for his absence. The maverick of early rock, Buddy Holly, makes an appearence with his sweet "Everyday". The Del Vikings get the snappy "Come Go With Me" goin', and then smile all around with "Whispering Bells". My cousin, brother and I can't get enough of The Chordettes and "Lollipop". You gotta admit that the disc does come to an end pretty quick, and 50's tunes are usually two minutes (plus) long. At least the plate is loaded with a small but yummy helping, including the classic "Stand By Me" and The Coasters' "Yakety Yak". Though it's time limit is nowhere near the best innocence era soundtrack of them all, "American Grafitti", it would be just as good if it somehow had the same running time.
Free Music Review: Great starter set for a future rock n' roller Hit: 5 Stars
I loved that movie Stand By Me when I was a kid, as I was the same age as the boys in this movie and felt like I too was going on sort of a "spiritual journey" with them in the course of the movie. Years later seeing it, well, it's not the same. I've lost my innocence since then and it doesn't have the same magic it used to. The soundtrack, however, will always live in my heart.
I had never heard of any of the artists, let alone the songs, which this wonderful soundtrack included. I began to explore a world out there that I didn't know existed, the world of the past and who all these great rock n' rollers were. This soundtrack, as well as The Lost Boys soundtrack, helped mold and shape me into who I am today. For this I will always be greatful.
Free Music Review: A spectacular sountrack for a spectacular film!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Stand By Me is one of those films that if you were born in the late seventies early eighties, like I, you loved to watch simply because it was a coming-of-age film that we could relate to. I was born in 1980, so I would always see the film on television on the weekends. Rob Reiner created a masterpiece and the songs picked for the film are treasures that evoke that sense of nostalgia that movie fans long for. The soundtrack is wonderful. "Ben King's Stand by Me" is powerful when played in the end as the credits role. Perhaps no eyes are dry in that incredible moment. I know mine aren't.
Free Music Review: Stand By Me- A must buy Hit: 5 Stars
These are ten of the best songs from one of the best decades in American history. The 50's were a time of promise, but more importantly, a celebration of youth. Some of the cuts are just pointless rock classics only good for blasting in your droptop on the expressway. But Ben E. King's Stand By Me never fails to bring a tear to my eye. Anyone who doesn't feel moved by this track must have a coffin and a tombstone because they're already dead. Bottom Line: this CD is a must buy. If you don't have it you should take a long look in the mirror and ponder your existence
Free Music Review: 50s Music At It's Best! Hit: 5 Stars
The Stand By Me soundtrack is a trip back to the mid to late 50s. Having been a teenage for all of those wonderful years, I can tell you that memories will begin to flood back as you remember a simplier time. The first selection is "Everyday" recorded by Buddy Holly. The film takes place in the year 1959 , the year Buddy Holly died in a plane crash in Clearlake,Iowa. The title song, "Stand By Me" fits the film perfectly with lyrics that are meaningful as well as beautiful. One of my favorite movie soundtracks.
