Free Music Notes for Standing in the Shadows of MotownFree Music Review: Too bad ten stars is not an option! Hit: 5 Stars
I've now seen the DVD three times, and I know what I'm giving everyone for Christmas! These guys can STILL cook forty years later, and the power of the music comes through with the vocalists chosen to perform the old Motown hits. By the time the Funk Brothers close the show with "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", you'll have goose pimples all over your body and tears in your eyes. Just an awesome experience!
Free Music Review: Funk Brothers keep me hanging on... Hit: 5 Stars
This 55-minute disc of the live concert in Royal Oak, Mich., which was used in the film, Standing in the Shadows of Motown, is a must for any and every Motown fan. Great renditions of such songs as You've Really Got a Hold On Me, (Love Is Like a) Heat Wave, What's Going On, and Ain't No Mountain High Enough by the likes of Meshell Ndegeocello, Joan Osborne (!), Ben Harper and Chaka Khan. Can't wait for the DVD.

Free Music Review: This CD Based on the Movie is Just Great Hit: 5 Stars
The Motown hits on this CD that is a tribute to the Funk Brothers are simply great. Bought the movie and just had to have the accompanying CD. The Funk Brothers were the original house band playing back-up to most of the Motown legends. Their music is really showcased on this CD. Great to listen to other's renditions of Motown hits made famous by the Funk Brothers.
Free Music Review: Every Home Should Have One!! Hit: 5 Stars
Wow!!
Like most people I didn't know of The Funk Brothers and thus as a Motown fan I found the film rivetting but more than that I think their rendition of Heatwave with Joan Osborne is absolutely stunning. Probably one of the best five tracks I've got in my extensive DVD collection. I can't stop playing it.
Must go. Got to watch it again.
