Free Music Review: Makes this Memphis Girl Proud!! Hit: 5 Stars
Some of the best music ever recorded, and it all came from a converted movie theatre on E. McLemore! This CD features the best of the best from Stax Records, from the early 60's to the mid-70's. Some of my favorites:
"Green Onions"-Booker T. and the MG's
"Soul Finger"-The Bar-Kays
"Soul Man"-Sam & Dave
"Theme from Shaft"-Isaac Hayes
If you're into classic R&B, you must add this to your collection.

Stax had an amazing collection of artists. This CD is definitely a celebration of Stax and the R&B genre. Booker T. Jones is brilliant and his band the "MGs" were the ultimate studio musicians. This CD includes incredible performances from Otis Redding, Carla Thomas,Sam and Dave, Isaac Hayes, Rufus Thomas, The Staple Singers, and on and on. If you love R&B, this CD is a "must have"! -CD includes a great little book with photos and background info.
Free Music Review: Super Soul Anthology Hit: 5 Stars
This collection chronicals the rise, prime and fall of Stax records. 50 really solid hits arranged in chronological order. The "Memphis Sound" comes through.
The liner notes booklet is a super read. The sound quality is excellent, the digital remastering is very true to the originals.
This one takes me back to my high school days in Memphis (class of 68) with the music I danced to.
