Free Music Review: Sterling Simms - Yours, Mine & The Truth Hit: 3 Stars
Man, I cant even believe this album finally came out. There were so many release dates that passed with this album, starting back in the very begining of 07, that i just forgot this guy even existed until i saw an ad for the album on the internet. So i checked it out expecting the worst after i read like four reviews saying the album was hot garbage. The thing with this album is that its very inconsistent. Some of the songs are really good, and showcase some really good production and vocals. Like the bouncy Soundz produced "Playa", and then on "Single", Sterling laces the bass heavy mid-tempo ballad with his warm vocals. And then Simms takes us back with an old school Keith Sweat feel on the mid tempo "I Know". And then we get a R. Kellyish baby maker in "Boom Boom Room". "Doin' Dat There" is another stand out with its super catchy hook, it could easily be a big club hit. But then on some songs Sterling doesnt sound nearly as convincing. "Jump Off" is a absoulutely terrible attempt at a crunk/crunk song, and to top it off he sounds terrible on the hook. And "All I Need" is decent at best, but it gets annoying quick. But in the end, the album really surprised me, because after reading those really negitive reviews, i was definetly expecting ALOT worse. While the album is truly just average, it shows that Sterling deserves at least some better promotion because hes got talent he just hasnt learned how to use it yet. He has knack for writing songs, like the heartbreaking tale of a bad break up in The Dream produced ballad "Bad Dream". But he needs to avoid doing to many club tracks, because in the end, the club tracks are the tracks that kept this album from being something truly special. The kid's got a decent voice, he just needs to learn his style and how to use his voice. Look out for this guy in the future.

Free Music Review: Sterling Is Bringing A Little Heat......... Hit: 3 Stars
To keep it 100, I'm not feeling the entire album, but this young man IS talented (and hella sexy LOL). I can say that because I know a little about his contributions to music so far; he's getting on his grind. I first heard his voice on the hook of Jay-Z's "Dig A Hole" from the Kingdom Come CD (LOL I was intrigued by this young man). For those who don't know, he's part of a writing/production team called Knight Writaz, which also includes R&B singers Mario & Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry. I think he's one of the up & coming artists that have the potential to be so much if he's marketed correctly - we'll see. On this CD you can tell that he sings from THE HEART & he has a nice tenor voice. He's got 4 (strong) songs on here that are now part of my classic R&B list of songs: (1) Sex In The City (2) DUI - 80 On The Freeway (3) Bad Dream & (4) Jump Off. Song #1 I mentioned is something that you play behind closed doors LOL (ENJOY that one cause it's fire!!). Overall, "Yours, Mine And The Truth" is a nice first effort for him. I wish him much success!
(Side Note: Why is it that he reminds me so much of Al B. Sure when I look at him . . . Ladies???? LOL)
