Free Music Notes for Crystal Visions - The Very Best of Stevie Nicks (CD / DVD)Free Music Review: Stevie Rocks! Hit: 5 Stars
I highly recommend Crystal Visions to anyone who enjoys the music of Stevie Nicks. The big selling point on the cd, besides a collection of all of her big solo hits, are the 4 LIVE tracks, which demonstrate Stevie's ability to capture your soul with that amazing, one of a kind voice. One of the best versions of "Rhiannon" I've ever heard, and she really does justice to "Rock & Roll", the Zep classic. If you like "Landslide" and "Edge of Seventeen", you'll love the two versions of these songs with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Stevie's vocals are strong, the arrangements of the songs are stellar, and the music is just beautiful. The price of the cd is worth it just for these four songs alone.
And if that's not enough, there's the dvd. All of Stevie's solo videos are included here. You can watch them with or without the commentary. You get to hear the funny side of Stevie as she narrates through the videos, just like she is watching them along with you. It's totally cool. Then there's the big bonus of a home movie from the making of Bella Donna. The first solo effort by Stevie after she gained so much fame with Fleetwood Mac. Once again she displays her sense of humor, her flair for fashion, and a demonstration of just how powerful that voice of hers is, throughout the video.
I think Crystal Visions is one of the best things she's ever released. GET THIS!
Free Music Review: Another great collection of Stevie's works Hit: 5 Stars
Stevie's third "best of" is great, almost perfect except for a few points. The DVD alone is worth the price, specially for the live version of Edge of Seventeen from The White Winged Dove Tour and the never before seen home video from the making of Bella Donna and Stevie's personal comments over each video. My disappointment is with the CD: A) Some classic songs are missing here, such as OUTSIDE THE RAIN and BEAUTY & THE BEAST; B) STAND BACK: This original version has already been included in Time Space and in the Enchanted Box Set. It should have been replaced by the live version with the Melbourne Symphony, recorded during the Australian Gold Dust Tour; C) ROCK AND ROLL: A classic song, immortalized by Led Zepplin. OK, it's one of Stevie's favorite songs, she is great singing it but, it's not one of Stevie's songs; D) EDGE OF SEVENTEEN: Last but not least, and most importantly, this live version is by far one of the best and most powerful versions of that song, Stevie is absolutely fantastic, everything is perfect, except for... at least 2 minutes of the original live recording are missing here. I found this unacceptable!! I just hope now a DVD from the Gold Dust Tour would be released... Finally, all things considered this collection still couldn't be rated less than five stars, after all Stevie's works are always the best! A "must-have" item for all Stevie's fans.
Free Music Review: Enchanting! Hit: 5 Stars
As soon as it arrived, I knew it was my best media purchase of the year. The CD includes new live versions of some old favorites - "Landslide" with the orchestra is particularly beautiful. Stevie also covers Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll," something I don't think you'll find anywhere else.
The DVD is equally amazing - it is so great to finally have all the videos in one place. There are some rare gems on here as well; who knew "Blue Denim" had a video. And the commentaries are just hilarious!
Also on the DVD disc are clips from a home video shot during the making of Bella Donna. The quality is rough (it's a home video from 1980) but there are some adorable moments featuring not only Stevie, but Sharon and Lori, and even Jimmy Iovine
What really made the package for me, though, was the personal touch put into it by Stevie. It's evident when you first open the package, by the artwork, the picture selections, and of course the liner notes. Intsead of including the lyrics for each song, there is a paragraph long description of how the song came about or what it means to her.
I Would have liked to have seen an album of all new stuff (perhaps an all-live album?), but I'm still very happy with what I got.
Free Music Review: I love the music of Stevie Nicks Hit: 5 Stars
Stevie Nicks is one my favorite singers. Even though I already have most these songs on other CDs, I didn't have the music videos for her songs until now. This CD and combo contains most of her greatest hits as a member of Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. "Dreams" is my favorite track. This is her hit as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1977. "Silver Spring" is another hit Stevie had with Fleetwood Mac that is included here. This song is very touching. I love her solo hits like "Stand Back", "Talk To Me" and "I Can't Wait." I remember dancing to the songs in the 80's. I enjoyed the listening to the commentary for the song "Edge Of Seventeen." Stevie wrote this song after the death of John Lennon and her uncle. This is a very personal song, and it became one of her biggest solo hits. I love the duets "Leather and Lace" with Don Henley and "Stop Dragging my Heart Around" with Tom Petty too. "Whenever I Call You Friend" is missing from this set of songs, but that is okay. This DVD and CD combo includes great songs that are lesser known like the duet "Sorcerer" with Sheryl Crow. This is a really good song and video. "Everyday" is another lesser known song that I really liked. This song is cute and the tone of Stevie's voice is great. I loved watching the videos and listening to the music on this excellent CD and DVD combo.
Free Music Review: Hauntingly Amazing ! Hit: 5 Stars
I just recieved the CD and the CD / DVD today and I cannot stress enough to each and every Stevie Fan out there what a MUST HAVE these are!
As expected the tracks off of the CD are enough to get me in the mood for a Stevie Concert, but after watching the DVD I have a new found affection for Ms. Stevie Nicks. Watching how much time, effort, energy and devotion she puts into making her songs perfect and preparing for her shows just to please her Fans is beyond Amazing.
The never before seen Home Video of Stevie Nicks is an eyeopening experience in itself. To watch her work on the Bella Donna album is yet another triumphant step up for Stevie. Watching The parts of The Making of Bella Donna made me feel as though I was a part of the Process, ( or maybe envious that I wasn't there to witness it in real life ). :-)
I think any and every Fan , Hard Core or Newbie, of Stevie Nicks will find this to be a MUST HAVE for their collection! I want to write more, but unfortunately I can't , I have to get back to the CD / DVD. ( this is my third time listening to it ).
I am positive that anyone who purchases this will not be dissapointed.
