Free Music Notes for Crystal Visions - The Very Best of Stevie Nicks (CD / DVD)

Free Music Review: Stevie ROCKS!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a Stevie fan since middle school, and so it doesn't take much for me to get excited. "Crystal Visions" may technically be a greatest hits package, but yet it so much more than that as well. I love it because there are versions of my favorite songs that I had never heard before, especially the live versions of "Edge of Seventeen" and "Landslide" performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Then there is the DVD, which makes me even happier because although I have seen some of these videos before on VH-1, there are quite a few I had never seen, including the rare "Scarlett version" of "Stand Back." I also love the optional commentary by Stevie, which lets true fans like me absorb all there is to know about these videos.

"Crystal Visions" ROCKS!

Free Music Review: Unusual, but Splendid Package
Hit: 5 Stars

It's obvious that Nicks put a lot of thought into this package: Deep Dish Remix of Dreams, combined with the original version of Silver Springs, and excellent live versions of Landslide, Rhiannon, Rock n Roll and Edge of Seventeen. Wow! All live tracks are excellent, but I have to say, the version of Landslide on this CD is the best I've ever heard before. The orchestra strings are beautiful and her voice is flawless.

The DVD is excellent, too. She provides commentary for all the videos, and some of the videos have never been seen before. Plus, there is video of her recording Bella Donna, one of the best rock albums ever.

This album really is the best compilation album she has ever done. It's just excellent, and soo unusual just like Stevie.

Free Music Review: Fans have been waiting for this one!!
Hit: 5 Stars

First off this set is superior to TimeSpace and Enchanted. The treat here is the DVD. You get to hear Stevie's comments on each video and she has something funny to say about each one. You'll see that Stevie isn't as serious as you might have thought she was. The other real treat is the Bella Donna recording sessions videos. Long time fans will really love this CD/DVD, casual fans will want the CD which has some killer live tracks, but die-hards have been waiting for this DVD. Speaking of the live tracks, one can only hope that the full Melbourne show gets a release someday. The orchestra works really well, the strings playing the riff on "Edge Of Seventeen" is very cool.
Well worth the wait and long time fans won't be disappointed.

Free Music Review: What Becomes A Legend Most?
Hit: 5 Stars

Crystal Visions is THE quintessential Stevie Nicks career retrospective album. It illustrates with proof and certainty the legendary place she has earned in music history. For those unfamiliar with Nicks, this release offers novice listeners an incredible journey through her decades of work. For avid fans, this album is a wonderful collection of Stevie's songs both classic, live, and current recordings. An exciting bonus is the DVD offering rare never-before-seen footage of landmark recording sessions, live performances, and music videos. Stevie Nicks is a timeless artist and this album/DVD release is a timeless product. It gives creedence to her staying power and the deserving title of the "Queen of Rock."

Free Music Review: A collection by one of the world's greatest poets
Hit: 5 Stars

I had debated between getting the regular CD version or the combo CD/DVD combo of "Crystal Visions: The Very Best of Stevie Nicks" and I am so glad I went with the combo. As a long time Stevie fan this was a great collection featuring the best this poet has to offer. It was worth the extra couple of bucks for the DVD with several classic Stevie videos including the ORIGINAL video for "Stand Back" and commentary by Stevie on every video from everything from behind the concepts and process to the stories behind the songs. Its a trip down memory lane in case of the older videos. She is a true poet in this day in age who has gone through hell and back only to rise up on top as a true icon in rock and roll.
