Free Music Notes for Crystal Visions - The Very Best of Stevie Nicks

Free Music Review: Mostly For Casual Fans
Hit: 3 Stars

I'm not a huge fan of Stevie Nick's solo material. I loved her songs in Fleetwood Mac and always thought that she was the real star of that band in terms of songwriting prowess and quality, but her solo material doesn't seem as inspired and lacks the tremendous arranging skills of Lindsey Buckingham. I love some of her hits, but this collection was hit and miss for me. Planets Of The Universe is a welcome surprise inclusion. There's many other highlights but just as many songs that I don't care for. The best songs here are:

Edge Of Seventeen
Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
Talk To Me
Stand Back
Leather And Lace
Planets Of The Universe

Those songs are her very best and worth the price of admission to this cd. The other ones are just not interesting enough for my taste. Casual fans will be pleased to find most of her radio singles here. Long-time fans might want this for either remastered sound or for the 3 rarities present, but likely own all of the material.

The remastering job is first-rate.

Free Music Review: Good cd but
Hit: 3 Stars

I do like this cd but not fussed with the live tracks and the song selection.

I think the previous greatest hits that was put out in 1990 with sometimes life is a bitch released as a single was much better. The only down fall with that compilation it was not remastered.

Stevie has had some amazing songs through out the years even with Fleetwood mac but i am a little dissapointed with this cd.

Free Music Review: Long time waiting
Hit: 3 Stars

I had to wait a long time for this cd to arrive. Still not sure if I like all the tracks on this cd as I think they remixed a couple of them. It still takes me back in time with a singer that I really like!

Free Music Review: Too much of a mish mash.
Hit: 2 Stars

While I love Stevie Nicks, this compilation irritates me. First off, I don't understand why they wasted space with the live tracks. Although they are nice, they just don't fir for me on a greates hits. Thye take up too much room where a couple of her real hits (After the Glitter Fades, Nightbird, Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind all charted on Billboard's Hot 100) could fit. And since they chose to include Silver Springs from Flettwood Mac, where are her other Mac hits-Sara, Gypsy, Seven Wonders etc-it's just a lopsided compilation. Also, for soemone who stepped out on her own from Fleetwood Mac because she wrote so many songs she needed another outlet to get her music out there, why no new songs? Why not go back and record something from the vaults (which she has done alot of in the past Trouble in Shangri-La from 2001 includes many older songs recorded for the cd) and record something? Seems Stevie no longer has a burning desire to record, just tour...with anyone who asks.

Lastly, for someone who looks as good as Stevie does at 58, it's sad that they chose to use photos for the front and back cover from almost 30 years ago.

The dvd version is nice to have for the videos and Stevie's commentaries, but the cd version just doesn't cut it as a best of./greatest hits.

Free Music Review: Only a Few Good Tracks
Hit: 2 Stars

The only good songs on here are "Edge of 17," but only the original and not the live version at the end, and "Leather and Lace." That is a duet with Don Henly and is great. Most of the rest of these songs are live or redone some other way, and they just don't sound as good. The live version of "Rhiannon" was especially horrible.
