Free Music Notes for In StepFree Music Review: SRV's best work Hit: 5 Stars
His last album. It was really tragic that we lost yet another amazing talent. One of the 5 best guitar players ever, easily, Stevie explores his blues roots, rock, and even flirts with some jazz on Riviera Paradise. His mind blowing guitar solos on Crossfire and Tightrope make me think that if Stevie were style alive, music today might not be so pathetic. House is Rockin is a great rock and roll song. Stevie could do it all. Let Me Love You Baby is straight up blues, as it is the incredibly souful Leave My Girl Alone. No weak songs and the Bonus tracks make me wish I could have seen him live.
Free Music Review: HIS BEST Hit: 5 Stars
THIS IS ONE FANTASTIC BLUES/ROCK CD FROM A GREAT GUITAR PLAYER.I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS STEVIE`S BEST ALL AROUND CD.THIS HAS GREAT ROCKERS WITH HOUSE IS ROCKIN&CROSSFIRE.GREAT BLUES WITH LEAVE MY LITTLE GIRL ALONE & LOVE ME DARLIN,AND A GREAT INSTRUMENTAL IN RIVERA PARADISE,MY FAVORITE CUT ON THE CD.THIS IS SO SAD BECAUSE STEVIE WAS REALLY ROLLIN ON THIS RELEASE,WITH EVERY SONG BEING A GOOD ONE AND HE WAS HITTING HIS PRIME WHEN HE HAD THE CRASH.THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR ANY BLUES/ROCK FAN OF THE LATE 80`S OR ANY FAN OF JUST GREAT GUITAR PLAYING.I BELEIVE ONLY JIMI WAS BETTER.
Free Music Review: In Step Hit: 5 Stars
Sadly, this is Stevie's last studio work before his death in a helicopter crash in Wisconsin. Every song on this cd is monumental. The standout, is Riviera Paradise, a nine minute instrumental workout, that was not even rehearsed by the band prior to its recording. Stevie Ray titled this cd "In Step" because he was clean and sober, referring to the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. If you do not have this cd in your collection, what are you waiting for? Also, the live bonus tracks at the end are fantastic! The world lost a true musician when Stevie Ray died.
Free Music Review: Best album by the best bluesman in the best music genre Hit: 5 Stars
Between my brother and I, we own probably 1000 blues albums, so we speak with authority when we say that SRV was probably the greatest bluesman (yes, its subjective as hell, and a difficult call). And this album is his best, no doubt about it. The clarity of the guitar playing, the impact of the soloing, the musicianship of everyone on this CD...its all perfect. I still get goose bumps when I play "Tightrope"...over and over again. Why couldn't it have been Clapton that bit the Wisconsin hillside that fateful day? Oh, why oh why? ...
Free Music Review: Good stuff Hit: 5 Stars
If Eric Clapton really gave his soul to the devil in return for the ability to play the blues, as he hints in the Robert Johnson song "Crossroads", he got a bum deal. Eric Clapton could never play like this in his wildest dreams. SRV proves once agian how amazing he can be on this, his first album recorded sober. From start to finish, this album shines. There isn't a weak link on it. This is the kind of music that just begs you to roll the window down and crank it up- and its awfully hard to resist the temptation.
