Free Music Notes for In StepFree Music Review: Stevies finest hour Hit: 5 Stars
Stevie was messed up on drugs and drinking for quite some time and finally kicked the habit around 1986. After he sobered up, he made his classic 'In Step'....his most focused, stunningly personal and wonderfully musical album. Stellar playing throughout, Stevies references to his years with the monkey on his back (wall of denial, tightrope), and the addition of top notch Keyboardist Reese Wynans top it all.
Truly Stevies finest hour, focused, personal, and very musical, it is the song of himself.
Free Music Review: In Step, Stevie Ray Vaughan Hit: 5 Stars
For all of you SRV Diehard's, this is the CD for you. Recorded after his new found health, this is an SRV masterpiece: Back onto the right road of living, he comes through with a new clarity that is not exhibited on his previous recordings. This CD clearly shows that Stevie Ray Vaughan didn't just play the guitar, he WAS the guitar. I ablsolutely recommend "In Step" to all fans of SRV, and to anyone considering their first purchase of SRV. You will not be disappointed! On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 12.

This was Stevie's last project before his untimely death. It is also his greatest work in my humble opinion. Stevie had overcome his demons shortly before producing this final masterpiece and the raw emotion of his life's journeys pour out of these songs. This CD, better than any other, embodies his unique talent for somehow translating love, pain, anger & beauty to amplifier's input jack. Maybe that's part of the reason that over a decade has come and gone and noone has filled Stevie's shoes.
Free Music Review: We miss you Stevie! Hit: 5 Stars
Arguably his best albumn, this remastered version of In Step is going to get alot of play at my house. As with the other remasters (Texas Flood, Soul to Soul & Couldn't Stand the Weather) this one is loaded with tone that only SRV and DT could produce. All the bonus tracks, except SRV Speaks, are live cuts (where I think Stevie and DT does their best work), and "Life Without You" includes Stevie's rap. Thanks again to Sony, Epic and especially Jimmie.
Free Music Review: Made me so happy Hit: 5 Stars
After the weak "Soul to Soul", Stevies life went sharply downhill. But when he cleans himself of drugs....STEP BACK, BABY!!!! He seems more stimulated now than when he was ever on drugs. "Leave my Girl Alone" was the the first song i listened to on this album....and i was amazed at the clarity. His voice is so sharp and crisp and clear on this album...Sure, everyone listenes to his guitar playing, but get past that sometime and listen to his VOICE!
