Free Music Notes for Texas FloodFree Music Review: Great Debut! Hit: 5 Stars
This is really an awesome album from the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. He plays so prolifically across different blues styles and makes them all sound great. Each time I come back to this, I'm stunned anew at SRV's abilities.
He's very missed.
Anyway, the album sounds great, so high marks for the remastering!
As for the bonus tracks, the gritty slow blues of "Tin Pan Alley," a favorite off of Stevie Ray Vaughan's later album In Step is a welcome variation, and the inclusion of three live tracks is certain to derive interest from SRV fans. "Testify" is played with great energy as is closer "Wham!" Bonus material is always nice, and it's some good stuff, here. Nothing better than the album itself, but still a nice addition.
Free Music Review: One of few to MASTER the true depths of guitar!!!?Robert Hit: 5 Stars
Stevie Ray Vaughan. The master of the guitar. Under the wing of Albert King he took the bull by the horns. He picked up his fender and showed the world he was serious. The true intensity and speed of his style has not yet been surpassed. "Texas Flood" and "Pride and Joy", two blues classics that show Stevie at his best. One of the best blues albums EVER if not the best. The money is WELL worth it. Stevie is the biggest influence on me and my guitar and he is to be renouned as one of the greatest guitarist to ever set foot on this earth. This Cd will leave you feeling like you have gained something. The CD is simplily the best and a MUST for any one who plans to pick up a guitar or who just loves great music. One CD that I can listen to the WHOLE THING.
Free Music Review: Want To Here Some Talent? Hit: 5 Stars
Texas Flood is Stevie Ray Vaughan's first debut album including the opening track Love Struck Baby with a beautiful texas tone. Then their is the songs that most guitarist never forget including Stevie Ray Vaughan's greatest hit Pride And Joy, and Texas Flood. Lenny is the softer track on the album dedicated to his wife Lenny. I think one of the coolest Blues Shuffles is on Rude Mood. I think Stevie Ray Vaughan had a wonderful talent doing what he did he was one of the greatest guitarist the ever lived. Their are some old great blues songs on here like the Lonnie Mack orginal Wham. The greatest guitar song on the album is Texas Flood. This album has got plenty of radio play that it deserved. Any guitarist should buy this you will not be disapointed. Highly Recomened! Only The Best
Free Music Review: It Al Started Here Hit: 5 Stars
If I had to pick my favorite artist, it would be SRV, and there's nowhere better to start listening then at the beginning. I was very suspicious when Epic re-issued all of his studio work, but it was well worth the money I spent repurchasing it. All of the songs sound much fuller and clearer. At some points ("Lenny" comes to mind) it seems as if Stevie is in the room with you--you can hear his fingers run across the strings and his amp hum. I agree with a previous reviewer that the premature fade in "Tin Pan Alley" is horrible, but what can you do. The interview snippets are great, I had wanted to hear a live version of "Wham" for a long time, so its inclusion made me very happy. All in all, a great reissue from a great artist.
Free Music Review: The Greatest!!! Hit: 5 Stars
If you do not have any SRV, this is probably the best one to start with. Do not buy a best of before you own this cd! This album tops any compilation that's been put together. Any blues fan, guitarist, or just plain music fan should either buy this cd or at least download some of the songs. Among my favorites are texas flood, rude mude, testify, mary had a little lamb, and lenny. In my opinion SRV is the best blues guitarist of all time. If you are a fan of Kenny Wayne Shepherd, keep in mind that he was influenced by SRV more than anyone else. Before you go out buying new "blues" cds, listen to what all the new blues guys are trying to sound like. I also reccommend any of Stevie's other albums and especially "In Session" and "In Step."
