Free Music Notes for In the Beginning

Free Music Review: Stevie is awesome.
Hit: 4 Stars

Although I don't listen to a ton of blues, I do enjoy the genre. A friend got me completely hooked on Stevie and it started with borrowing this CD. The first two tracks are spectacular! I had never heard guitar playing like that before. Stevie Ray is the best blues guitarist ever in my opinion, and undoubtedly one of the best guitar players of all time period. He poured more heart and soul into his shows than I have ever seen. The rest of the songs on this cd are all pretty good, but the first 2 make it great. Especially good for a live CD. This is great for any fan of the genre, of great guitar playing, or of great music in general. It gets a solid 89 percent.

Free Music Review: Not Necessarily The First SRV CD to buy
Hit: 4 Stars

CD has lots of raw, great playing, but if you want a smooth, mature studio album then this is not the one to get. I'd recommend this one for long-time SRV fans who already have other albums or for people who love live recordings with all their delights and limitations. Worth having but not probably as your very first SRV CD.

Free Music Review: I Like This!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is really good. You should buy it.

Free Music Review: one of the best live jam albums ive ever heard ...
Hit: 5 Stars

when i first listened to the first track, i was simply blown away, this album has so much more energy than Live Alive (not better, its jus faster and has more muscle). i think every song on this album is awesome, this is a must-buy for srv fans or ppl new to his incredible guitar talents.
the only guitarist to rival srv, in my opinion, was jimi hendrix and theyre both unbeatable in speed and style (or their variety of styles i should say).
this is one of my favorite srv albums and definitely my all-time fav live srv album (out of the 3 out right now). an incredible, i dont know if i can say that word enough its just simply amazing at this guy's skill. a must-buy for blues/rock fans.

Free Music Review: No Wonder He Became A Star
Hit: 5 Stars

So you want to know just how and why Stevie Ray Vaughan became a star in the first place? It begins here. There was always a sensitive intensity to his playing which turned up missing somehow on his otherwise worthy studio recordings (even on the shattering "Texas Flood" or the resurrective "In Step"), and which got either mixed deep in the big muddy ("Live Alive") or overcome by its own history (the otherwise shimmering, posthumous Carnegie Hall CD) on his live albums. Not this one. The kid knew what he was doing from square one and, even though he couldn't (and never really did) get the Hendrix aspirations out of his system, you'll forgive him because he's playing here as though there really is a hellhound on his trail. And it yanks his rhythm section along for a ride comparable to a starving dog attacking a lamb roast. By the time Stevie Ray and the boys get finished, there's not a strand of meat left over.

He can't resist letting flash override substance here and there (I mean, let's quit kidding ourselves: he wasn't exactly allergic to letting the show take over for awhile, his most wounding flaw), but there is no question but that this kid meant it from end to end. Stevie Ray Vaughan may not have started the great late 1970s-early 1980s blues revival, but without question he made the most of it. Don't let the absence of his soon-to-be-familiar crowdpleasers throw you, either. In fact, if you'd been in the crowd for this particular show, your only question would have been what was taking the record companies so long to catch his fire. As it turned out, he didn't have that much longer to wait...
