Free Music Notes for The Sky Is CryingFree Music Review: My favorite of the SRV canon. Hit: 5 StarsNot until this posthumous album was released did I fully realize the scope of the artist that had been lost. This disc is as good a representation as there is of Stevie Ray's range of expression. "Life by the Drop" is a poignant ending to an altogether stirring tribute to the departed virtuoso.
Free Music Review: Excellent Compilation! Hit: 5 StarsThis is album a very good collection and any SRV fan ought to love this one. The version of "Boot Hill" is undoubtedly one of my favorite Vaughan songs of all time. There are many awesome songs on this album. SRV's version of the J. Hendrix song "Little Wing" is amazing. SRV is without question the most amazing guitar player that ever graced the neck of a guitar.
Free Music Review: Great work. Hit: 5 StarsThis is the first album I've heard of Stevie Ray Vaughan."The Sky is Crying", his version of "Little Wing" and "Chitlins Con Carne" are my favorites. I can't wait to get the rest.
Free Music Review: THIS IS NOT HIS BEST ALBUM, BUT IT IS VERY GOOD! Hit: 4 StarsThis album is a bunch of collected songs that never went on to any of his albums. Most of them will make you say, "They never put these on to any albums?" But some just have bad endings and things. Other than the bad endings it's a great album. I want to point out a couple of songs. The first, one of my favorites, is "The Sky Is Crying." This is the best version I have ever heard of this song. He did great on that song, and I think they should have put it on his album "Soul to Soul." He also did many other songs that aren't bad at all. Just to name a few, "Little Wing," "Life by the Drop," and "May I Have a Talk with You." These are all great songs and I hope you will decide to buy this album because it is GREAT!
Free Music Review: GET THIS FOR "LITTLE WING" ALONE! Hit: 4 StarsThis posthumous compelation is pretty good with "The Sky Is Crying" and "Life By the Drop" standing out. But, simply stated, SRV's version of "Little Wing" is the greatest guitar playing that I have ever heard! He switches effortlessly between Blues, Jazz, and Jimi-style playing. A masterpiece! Also, check out the touching liner-notes of bandmates Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon.
