Free Music Notes for Blues at SunriseFree Music Review: Another Great CD for Stevie Hit: 5 Stars
Another nice CD of his fabulous guitar work - a little more laid back on some tunes but the cut "Tin Pan Alley" burns with great low volume guitar with Johnny Copeland. Another great cut with Albert Lee - you can see how well Stevie could emulate that style, he even had Albert laughing when he was playing the Jimi Hendrix style licks. Sky is Crying and Texas Flood are great cut. As a die hard SRV fan I am glad I bought this CD. Better live cuts here and the quality of the sound was great
Free Music Review: Hidden Treasures Hit: 5 Stars
As a Stevie fan I accept that we can not change the fact that he is gone, however, with releases such as this we can still be surprised and excited about hidden treasures. I listen to this album and hope they never stop the excavation of his work. Though this CD will sit in my collection next to other CD's which carry some of the same songs this CD's sound is fresh and new. It's like someone has twisted his star, allowing another facet to shine.
Free Music Review: As Good As It Gets Hit: 5 Stars
Anyone whom has ANY appreciation of blues and/or guitar artistry will thoroughly enjoy this CD. Of course this is biased opinion from a staunch SRV fan. I highly recommend listening to this with headphones to get the purest audio it deserves. The material selection is superb. The touch, tone, and intonation is beyond compare. Stevie Ray may be gone, but thankfully we have recordings such as this to remember the legend.
Free Music Review: great compilation Hit: 5 Stars
For years I have been listening to SRV and love all of his music. This particular compilation is great for fans who love to hear his very distinct and very overpowering live sound. Any SRV fan can tell you he was at his best on stage and in person. This is also how he recorded in the studio. His full throttle playing comes from the heart and is very present on this album. Simply put, a great cd. Hope you get hooked like me!
Free Music Review: An amazing journey through the blues universe! Hit: 5 Stars
The brief existence of Steve Ray Vaughan meant a great loss not only for the guitar world but the blues. Vaughan owned a personal trademark for this genre, even he was a famed rock singer. His special dark vocal inflections, and his peculiar style added the blues a propulsive fresh breath.
The best track in my opinion is Texas flood, but the CD is absolutely rewarding from start to finish.
