Free Music Notes for Stevie Ray Vaughan - Greatest HitsFree Music Review: Oh.....My.....God! Hit: 5 StarsI'm ashamed to say that I've just recently become a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. Yeah, I heard of him when Texas Flood came out. I thought a couple his song were pretty good but I wasn't blown away (I was a stupid 18 year old kid who was into the 80's "junk" like Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and Flock of Seagulls) When he was killed I thought, 'What a damned shame' and didn't give it another thought. When his Greatest Hits CD came out I decided to give him another shot. I still wasn't blown away by him. You see, I have a bad habit of listening to maybe 30 seconds of a song and if it doesn't grab me I go to the next, so the only songs I liked were Texas Flood, Pride & Joy, and Little Wing. I listened to those songs a couple times, put the CD away and forgot about it. That is until recently. I was bored with the music playing on the radio while burning some B.B & Buddy Guy CD's for my friend so I went to my CD collection. I saw Stevie's Greatest Hits CD and decided that I'd give him one more shot and listen to the whole thing, even if it killed me. After the CD was done playing, I just sat there thinking, "OH....MY....GOD!" The man was brilliant! He grabbed me this time and he won't ever let me go!!!! Even right now, I'm listening to Stevie's beautifully soothing Riviera Paradise from his 'In Step' CD . God, I wish that I had paid attention to him when he was alive. Needless to say, I own all of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble's CD's and DVD's now and you should too!
Free Music Review: Stevie, Stevie, Stevie! Hit: 5 StarsHe. was. incredible. No other way to put it - when you put a guitar in this man's hands, he was a god. He beat the hell outta that guitar, combining it with his amazing voice, and it was beautiful. I always turn up 'Change It' cuz it's my favorite. I recommend 'Live at Carnegie Hall' too -- another great recording! Stevie, WHY WHY WHY did ya have to get on the helicopter?
Free Music Review: SRV lives on Hit: 5 StarsThis is a great starter disc for anyone interested in the man, but it does not compare to the full length albums themselves especially on VINYL. Anyway, this is a great complilation and I'm glad to see it selling well.
Free Music Review: "STEVIE'S PASSION AND HONESTY ALWAYS CAME THROUGH... Hit: 5 StarsWITH HIS MUSIC." Doyle Bramhall (songwriting collaborator.)This is a must own collection for all SRV fans but perhaps more so for someone who loves his music but doesn't own all his cd's. This is definitely for you! "Texas Flood," "Pride and Joy," "Tightrope," "Little Wing," "Crossfire," "Cold Shot", and "Couldn't Stand the Weather" and more. Wow, what a collection! Stevie is someone that I highly regard--now and forever. There are few artists that have touched me the way he has; honestly, NONE like HIM. He was so Special. He played from his heart and touched so many people's lives. He had plenty of hard times and almost died but he overcame his problems. Stevie living on this earth and sharing his music was a GIFT to me and so many. Let his music touch you. Stevie didn't believe in song lists playing live but hey, with an album, a list has to exist! Ha. I agree with the song list wholeheartedly--except I wish there were at least 2 more hits: "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and either the instrumental "Testify" or "Wham!" It would be great if it were a box set then we could have more--but there is always "Real Deal Hits 2." The rest of his greats are on it. (Except for the 3 songs I mentioned above.) In the cd's pamplet, there is a picture of the band, and a drawing of Stevie that is amazing plus an compliation of interviews by Dan Forte including comments from Eric Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton ("The first time I heard Stevie Ray, I thought, "Whoever this is, I've got to find out. Whoever this is is going to shake the world." It's going to be a long time before anyone that brilliant will come along again.") and quotes/interviews from the band members, Chris, Tommy, Reese and Doyle. Great job by Dan Forte. I give this a my wholehearted recommendation; however I must say, you MUST see him play LIVE, working his magic, with your own eyes! Please check out his two DVD's with Double Trouble: "Live at El Mocambo" and "Live From Austin, Texas." You won't be sorry... Stevie always makes me soar, Soaring Heart
Free Music Review: He's got soul Hit: 5 StarsI've been listening to Stevie Ray for awhile now. I own 5 of his cds now. The difference between him and many others is he has got soul. Like BB King, Albert King, Billie Holliday, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton. This guy can play. From hits like "Pride and Joy" to his slow work on "Life Without You" he speaks volumes in his guitar playing. He plays with so much you can hear it on any of his albums. This one I have to recommend over any other though, because it's got some of his best stuff. Among them are "Texas Flood", "The House is Rockin'", "Pride and Joy", "Little Wing", "Cold Shot", "Couldn't Stand the Weather", and "Life Without You" this is the best you could put together. I don't know why "Taxman" is on here though or considered part of his greatest hits. It was not even released when before he died. It's a good song, but why not put "Vodoo Chile" or "Willie the Wimp" here instead. O well, it can't be perfect I guess. Still get this recording it will change the way you listen to music.
