I've been listening to Stevie Ray for awhile now. I own 5 of his cds now. The difference between him and many others is he has got soul. Like BB King, Albert King, Billie Holliday, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton. This guy can play.From hits like "Pride and Joy" to his slow work on "Life Without You" he speaks volumes in his guitar playing. He plays with so much you can hear it on any of his albums. This one I have to recommend over any other though, because it's got some of his best stuff. Among them are "Texas Flood", "The House is Rockin'", "Pride and Joy", "Little Wing", "Cold Shot", "Couldn't Stand the Weather", and "Life Without You" this is the best you could put together. I don't know why "Taxman" is on here though or considered part of his greatest hits. It was not even released when before he died. It's a good song, but why not put "Vodoo Chile" or "Willie the Wimp" here instead. O well, it can't be perfect I guess.
Still get this recording it will change the way you listen to music.

...The CD is great! I love to turn up the radio in my truck and hear "Pride and Joy" while I'm driving down the highway. I highly recommend this CD.

How fair is it that a great like SRV is gone but nonentities like Motley Crue go on forever?Ah well,what he left will live on.Everything on this collection is better than average."Texas Flood" is a sweltering display of virtuosity that leaves all pretenders in the dust.SRV could be tender, as evidenced by the heart rending "Life without You".What he will likely be remembered for is "LIttle Wing",a reworking of Hendrix's classic that surpasses the original.It may well be the greatest instrumental in the history of blues and rock,on par with "Orion" and "Call of Ktulu" by Metallica,and "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson.Every ounce of sorrow,pain,sweat,tears,love and soul is rolled into this 6 minute masterpiece.This work alone shows that SRV is one of the top 5-10 guitarists of all time.No collection is complete without this album.Even if you are not the biggest fan of rock or blues this collection will find a permanent place in the library of anyone who can appreciate great music and unequaled musicianship.Free Music Review: A MUST HAVE!

What a terrible loss to the industry. Buy this set and quickly LOVE it! Then, go purchase the DVD of Stevie Ray Live. Get comfy & sit back and watch this man in awe! Then for fun and some great SRV sounds, see the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band in concert. You won't be disappointed!
