Free Music Notes for Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble: Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: August 27 1990: a very sad day!
Hit: 5 Stars

The magnetic charisma of Steve Ray Vaughan literally transformed the Blues world and renovated with untamed spirits the Rock& Roll. If you go to the origin of the things you must consequently, be original.

There are many circumstances that surrounded the enormous aura of this sensational and legendary musician. His way to play the instrument, his special tune, his timeless voice but besides, the huge feeling that nestled beneath every single song, conferred him the legend status even earlier his premature death.

His wildness at the stage, the outburst of energy and histamine he left in every recital or recording session is more than evident.

With the early departure of Steve Ray Vaughan, another awful cycle ends. Who will be able to interpret Texas flood like he did?. It's was absolute classic since its first release. He not played the guitar as the Goddess; he played with the guitar and like Orpheus brought it to life, making it cry or laugh. If you listen carefully his version of Little wing, you will realize this is far from being a simple emotional statement.

With this non sense loss, the Rock and Blues acquired new spirits; but the forthcoming generations of guitarists and listeners will never forget him.

In this sense, the acquisition of this album is not a historical reference, but a true must-have, due every time you listen him you will know why.

Perhaps, one of the most sincere and invaluable testimonials ever made, came from these sensitive words of John Lee Hooker: "I was a great fan of his, and he was a great fan of mine." Not just for the music, but for the love of each other. He was one of the greatest musicians who ever lived, and it was a great loss to the world, to blues, and to me."

The genius don't die, simply vanish.

In memoriam.

Free Music Review: Just what it says , The Greatest Hits of Stevie Ray Vaughn
Hit: 5 Stars

Stevie Ray Vaughn was arguiably the Greatest Blues Guitar player ever (Some would defend Jimi Hendrix or possibly Eric Clapton). SRV was a virtuoso guitarist, and changed the way blues guitar is played. His licks are lightening fast. When Eric Clapton first heard SRV on the radio while driving in London one day, he actually had to pull over and listen to the song. Clapton decided before the day was over he was going to find out who this great blues player was. Clapton also later said "When you are with Stevie, you are in the presence of greatness. Clapton pretty much hit the nail on the head
Stevie was like Hendrix, only able to do a few albums before his unfortunate death.
Its no secret SRV is a Jimi Hendrix disciple and played much the same way as Hendrix did.
He starts with a version of "Taxman" the old George Harrison song from Revolver. Personally I prefer the version by the Beatles, but you do get a great guitar solo here.
Texas Flood is his finest hour with the blues, in my mind his signature blues song of his career. If you dont like this one you dont like the blues.
When the House is a Rockin, is a lively Rocker, certainly worth the listen.
Pride and Joy is another signature song of his, and probably my personal favorite as well.
The rest of the CD is very good, his version of "Little Wing" sounds very similar to the version Jimi Hendrix did, and both versions are well worth the listen. This is a must for any SRV fan or blues fan for that matter.

Free Music Review: Oh.....My.....God!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm ashamed to say that I've just recently become a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. Yeah, I heard of him when Texas Flood came out. I thought a couple his song were pretty good but I wasn't blown away (I was a stupid 18 year old kid who was into the 80's "junk" like Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and Flock of Seagulls) When he was killed I thought, 'What a damned shame' and didn't give it another thought. When his Greatest Hits CD came out I decided to give him another shot. I still wasn't blown away by him. You see, I have a bad habit of listening to maybe 30 seconds of a song and if it doesn't grab me I go to the next, so the only songs I liked were Texas Flood, Pride & Joy, and Little Wing. I listened to those songs a couple times, put the CD away and forgot about it. That is until recently. I was bored with the music playing on the radio while burning some B.B & Buddy Guy CD's for my friend so I went to my CD collection. I saw Stevie's Greatest Hits CD and decided that I'd give him one more shot and listen to the whole thing, even if it killed me. After the CD was done playing, I just sat there thinking, "OH....MY....GOD!" The man was brilliant! He grabbed me this time and he won't ever let me go!!!! Even right now, I'm listening to Stevie's beautifully soothing Riviera Paradise from his 'In Step' CD . God, I wish that I had paid attention to him when he was alive. Needless to say, I own all of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble's CD's and DVD's now and you should too!

Free Music Review: The Best Greatest Hits Complination
Hit: 5 Stars

Their have been many Steive Ray Vaughan greatest hits albums. Including The Greatest Hits Volume 2, and The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan but this Stevie Ray Vaughan Greatest Hits album is the best complination. I bought this at a used CD store and I just loved it I did own almost all of his CD's but except for this one. The real reason I bought this greatest hits was because of the first track TaxMan, I always loved the Beatles version, and I loved Stevie Ray Vaughan's music at the same time so I had to here the song beside the fact I loved all the other songs and thought it included Stevie Ray's best greatest hits on one CD.

I loved the entire album for it was truely great. All of the songs included on this CD were his best work. Their are many songs missing but can be heard on The Greatest Hits Volume 2, and on The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan. This whole album covers his best works from Pride And Joy, to Change It, also some other of my favorites include The House Is A Rocking, Little Wing, Crossfire, and Tightrope. The extra song TaxMan is perhaps the best new unreleased song on the entire album. I highly encourage anybody to pick up a copy of this masterpiece. Highly Recomened!

Free Music Review: Must have from a guitar god
Hit: 5 Stars

How fair is it that a great like SRV is gone but nonentities like Motley Crue go on forever?Ah well, what he left will live on.Everything on this collection is better than average."Texas Flood" is a sweltering display of virtuosity that leaves all pretenders in the dust.SRV could be tender, as evidenced by the heart rending "Life without You".What he will likely be remembered for is "LIttle Wing",a reworking of Hendrix's classic that surpasses the original. It may well be the greatest instrumental in the history of blues and rock,on par with "Orion" and "Call of Ktulu" by Metallica, and "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson.Every ounce of sorrow, pain, sweat, tears, love and soul is rolled into this 6 minute masterpiece. This work alone shows that SRV is one of the top 5-10 guitarists of all time.No collection is complete without this album.Even if you are not the biggest fan of rock or blues this collection will find a permanent place in the library of anyone who can appreciate great music and unequaled musicianship.
