Free Music Notes for Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble: Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: This is one of the greatest blues-guitar albums of all time
Hit: 5 Stars

After years of listening to various blues legends, I believe it would be a great injustice to not include Stevie Ray Vaugn as one of the top ten if not the top five blues-guitarist greats of all time. He sets a new standard for blues-guitar artists that is tough to follow. His astounding speed and timing with the guitar strings might never be matched. This Greatest Hits album brings together some amazing blues-guitar songs from his career that abruptly ended almost ten years ago. His chilling guitar solos are respected by any music lover. This album is a reminder of just how great this man truly was and that he can never be replaced.

Free Music Review: Don't be fooled by the 5 stars......
Hit: 5 Stars

I gave this 5 stars based only on the quality of the music. I really wouldn't recommend this CD. Anyone who likes Stevie Ray should buy his albums instead. There are only four of them. If you have all of SRV's albums then this CD is worth keeping around only for the groovy version of the Beatles' Taxman. This is only a tiny sampling of the great music that Stevie Ray has to offer. This will leave you unfulfilled. You'll take this disc out of your player wanting more. I would recommend SRV's debut, Texas Flood, for anyone looking to get into his music.

Free Music Review: A Real Guitar Hero
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the all time great guitar players, Stevie Ray Vaughn is well represented on this greatest hits collection. As an interpreter of songs ("Taxman," "Texas Flood") or with his own material, ("Pride and Joy," "Crossfire") SRV was a true original. Whatever the situation called for, Vaughn was up to the challenge. His leads could soar majestically, burn a searing path across a song, or be quietly understated. This CD, compiled after his untimely death, is great sampler for those who would like to hear the true musical genius of this man.

Free Music Review: We all speculate and wonder.....
Hit: 5 Stars

....what Hendrix might have sounded like, had he stayed with us through the years. Listen to this collection, and hear a guitarist who embodies the pure essence of Hendrix, and takes that musical genius, the technical ability, and the soul, and magnifies it many thousands of times over.

Hearing SRV's early tunes on the radio, I always assumed the guitar work was the result of much studio dubbing work. Until I saw him live in Santa Fe. He was playing it all at once, sounding like three guitars!

Free Music Review: A guitar god who will definetly be missed.
Hit: 5 Stars

Some of the best blues guitar work can be heard on this album. Stevie Ray melts the fretboard of his beat up Fender Strat like nobody can. With songs like "Cold Shot", "Little Wing", and many others. Get ready to be blown away with this one! If you like the blues, you got to like this one. Another great musician who was killed by some idiot flying a helicopter! If humans were meant to fly, we would be born with wings. Anyway, a great CD to have to any collection!
