Free Music Notes for Stevie Wonder - The Definitive Collection

Free Music Review: Soul Food
Hit: 5 Stars

Coveting Stevie Wonder's 'Musiquarium' all these years, I now justly feel guilty for getting this fabulous collection at such a cheap price.

Nevertheless, a collection without Stevie is one bereft, so I am happy to have his greatest hits to play in my car and in my MP3 player.

The essential of essentials: For upbeat soul songs, no one can beat his list: "Uptight," "I Was Made to Love Her," and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours". Each is a splendid, toe-tappin' soul delight. Gems such as "Sir Duke" (a tribute to Duke Ellington) and "Master Blaster (Jammin')" (a tribute to Bob Marley) are tokens from his masterpieces 'Song in the Key of Life,' and 'Hotter Than July'. On the softer side, he excels just as well on "My Cherie Amour" "You Are the Sunshine of My Life," and "I Just Called to Say I Love You" (Just listen to the way he incorporates the seasons and Zodiac in this deceptively simple tune.)

All the rest come from classic albums, including 'Talking Book,' and 'Innervisions,' so you know this terrific set of twenty-one songs is only a sampler. I saw Stevie Wonder in the Summer of 1988 and took in one of the greatest concerts in my life. Enjoy! :>)

Free Music Review: Can't go wrong with this one!
Hit: 5 Stars

If you've a fan of Stevie's or just a fan of '60s,'70s & '80s R&B, disco, or the Motown sound, rush out and buy a copy of "Stevie Wonder - The Definitive Collection". It's a great compilation of Stevie's best works! Of course, it's not as complete as the huge body of Stevie's songs found in "At the Close of a Century", but at a about 25% of the price, it's a steal! The liner notes are a bonus as well with many pictures of Stevie over his career. Also included are the chart listings and album covers for each of the 21 songs in this set.

All of Stevie's most well-known hits are here including: "For Once in My Life", "Signed, Sealed, Delivered...", "Superstition", "Sir Duke", "Overjoyed", and so on. Of course, some hits had to be left off this collection of 21 songs due to space (such as, "If You Really Love Me" and "Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day) but this disc stretches out at a full 79+ minutes, so the listener gets his or her money's worth. The only other pet peeve I have with this collection is that the version of "Do I Do" is the cut produced for a "single" and that the version containing Dizzy Gillespie's trumpet solo".

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Free Music Review: If you like Stevie, you'll enjoy this collection
Hit: 5 Stars

This collection has so many good songs by Stevie Wonder that I almost don't know where to start. Even some of the ones that I thought I didn't know of sounded familiar once I heard them again. The nice thing about an album like this is that it brings back so many memories. Where were you when Fingertips Part 2 first came out? Or Superstition? Or For Once in My Life? The song Overjoyed always reminds me of the beach and of summer, maybe because of the reference to castles and that background sound that's kind of like water. It makes me think of building sand castles, hence water and the beach.

I Just Called to Say I Love You reminds me of a time when I had been doing too much traveling for work and heard it while driving in the rental car up in B.C. and thought of my husband back at home. Signed, Sealed and Delivered reminds me of a fun party and all the friends that were there, some that I don't see often enough anymore. It's funny how each of the songs brings back another time and place. I guess that's why I like collections of music by artists that I enjoy. This one will not diappoint.

Free Music Review: 21 Songs To Adjust Your Mood
Hit: 5 Stars

This collection is awesome!! Stevie Wonder's music remains timeless. 15 number 1 hits!! Plus 6 more that reigned at the top of the charts! Stevie Wonder's genius cannot be squashed into one CD but they did a GREAT job trying. We all may have our favorites, some have been left out BUT 21 Stevie songs is nothing to complain about. If you grew up with his music, this CD will transport you right back to that time, and leave you overjoyed. A time when EVERYBODY knew all the words to EVERY song, because EVERY cut on the album was great. If you were too young, you still won't be able to keep from groovin' to this CD. Invite some friends & family over. Through the burgers on the grill. Pop in this CD. Feet can't help but move, heads will be boppin', as everyone relaxes to Stevie Wonder's heart and soul he put into his music.

Also, the CD insert is worth reading. A good bit of trivia that they included was how each song rated on the R&B, Pop and Adult Contemporary charts.

Free Music Review: Wonderful Music
Hit: 5 Stars

Stevie Wonder has had many greatest hits packages released during his forty year career. This new collection is the first single disk set that takes into consideration his earliest work until his final days as a major chart force in the mid 1980's. Most fans of Mr. Wonder will already have all of these songs, but no one can ever complain about the quality of the music. Some of these twenty-one songs are among the best songs ever recorded including the epic "Living For The City", the jazzy "Sir Duke" and reggafied "Master Blaster" and the rocking "Superstition". While Mr. Wonder was at his ultimate peak in the 1970's, the 80's tracks are very strong including the overlooked classic "That Girl" and the gorgeous "Overjoyed". Stevie Wonder was dubbed the 12-year-old genius, but through the years, his age may have changed, but his genius hasn't.
