Free Music Notes for The Serpent Album

Free Music Review: Not impressed at all..
Hit: 2 Stars

I love "In Love and Lunacy". I think it's pretty flawless and one of the best metalcore releases. When I heard the 2 tracks released for this cd "wax walls" and "anemia" I was blown away. They were amazing and I was stoked about this release. Unfortunately... Those are the best 2 songs by far...

The Serpent:
They tried something new, which I'm all for, but it didnt come out well. The first 4 (the first is a short instrumental) are all amazing. Stay captive is all singing but still a solid song. After those songs, there isn't another good song on the cd:

Maria: is this a joke? Really slow then kicks in and has incoherent screaming in the back.

Dropped from the Cherry Tree: Like a lot of the songs on the cd, its just verse chrous, nothing memorable to pull you in.

Dancing with the enemy: Same problem as above. really random chorus.

The River Song: just boring.

Sleepless Nights Alone: sigh.. What a title. Genius. lol intro is amazing with the keyboards then when the verse starts its just a slow-song but its not memorable.

An Undesired Reunion: This song's intro is some of the best writing ive heard in awhile, then the verse kicks in and it goes to hell. Slow with piano and drums. Chorus seems jumbled and not put together well.

Avalanche: Exactly what the title is. An avalanche of horrible music crushing onto you. They tried to end it with a heavy song. The screams are weird in the beginning and it sounds like they don't know how to be heavy anymore lol.

The pro's:
-The new keyboardist is phenomenal. He is perfect on the cd
-Really good production
-First 4 songs are solid

However overall it's highly disappointing. For the record, I dont think bands sell out. So i don't believe thats why they changed. I think it was new members and 2 years separating the last cd. Unfortunately, it didnt turn out very well.
