There are certain band's albums that on the day they are released I go out and buy immediately, STP is on that list. After 2 years STP finally released their 5th album entitled Shngri-La Dee Da. This album in my opinion is a step down from their last album No. 4, it is a total change in philosophy. In No. 4 they focused on the harder side of rock, in this album they are focusing on more acoustic songs and "melodys" if you will. The first 4 songs on the album are typical STP however the rest of the songs are extremely low key and really don't give that STP sound. The songs are mostly songs from the heart, and what is considered to be the new family life for frontman Scott Weiland. In a recent interview with MTV Weiland was quoted as saying "As much as we want to sell a lot of records and making money is a great thing, equal to that is a desire to feel like you've done something that mattered" I feel that this is a sign of changing ways. The album is dissapointing and in my opinion it is worse than Tiny Music which is widely considered STPs worst release to date.
