Free Music Notes for The Ninth Gate (1999 Film)Free Music Review: Eloquently Compelling & Hauntingly Beautiful Hit: 5 StarsThis soundtrack, specifically the vocal work by Sumi Jo is without a doubt my most favorite recording ever for a movie. Nothing I have listened to so far comes even close.
Despite trying several time to compose a detailed review of this product, sadly enough I cant seem to articulate sufficiently how moved I feel when listing to it. This is so because I'm a very emotionally as well as spiritually repressed person by nature.
Suffice it to say that the theme song, "Vocalise" and its sister song "Reprise" will be played continuously at my funeral when that event happens; that is how strongly those recordings move me.
Free Music Review: better than the film Hit: 5 StarsThis is one of those film soundtracks that made the movie better than what it was. I absolutly love Johnny Depp, but you've got to admit that the ninth gate was less then stellar.........but this soundtrack! Its just beautful in a prime evil sort of way. Definatly a mood setter if you are looking for soft, deep darkly moody music. I definatly recommand it......buy it, you won't be disappointed!
Free Music Review: way2vroom4u Hit: 5 StarsPowerfully dark and moving, this cd will dynamically change your mood if you allow it.
Free Music Review: An alluring composition tailored for the film Hit: 5 StarsFew film scores are worthy of a 5 star rating in my book, but Wojciech Kilar's 'The Ninth Gate' is one of the few truly powerful compositions that really grab you.
This score really harnesses the nature of the film, which is a horrific thriller of the paranormal and evil. The music is predominantly orchestral compilations taken straight out of the film. There is no foul play in the presentation of this album. Every piece from the movie is included on the CD in immaculate quality and presentation. Sumi Jo is the soprano who is featured in several of the tracks. Although I've only heard of her from this album, her voice is amazing and it really compliments the tracks. The symphonic orchestral compilations are rendered in a very delicate way, balancing the power of the bass instruments with the highs of the violins and clarinets...The result is a very sharp presentation with no over-hanging lows. At the same time, however, the presentation is just soft enough, making it manageable to listen to at intense volume, yet precise in the highs without inducing listener fatigue...an interesting phenomenon...and VERY enjoyable to experience. The fold-out leaflet also includes all NINE engravings from the mythical book 'The Nine Gates' and explains them in short captions. I recommend this CD, buy it, you'll enjoy it.
Free Music Review: Better than Williams! Hit: 5 StarsDo what thou wilt shall be the whole of the LawBased on the realms of what is immaginable in soundtracks to movies in tis day and age, what we have is a bunch of mush from studio executives who need an artist, or a collection or artists of well known repute to sell a few copies, leading us to boring, and unattractive music. Usually if Lucas needs a boost, he leans upon the legendary John Williams. The current composer of this lush soundscape, as illustrative of being capable to handle "Bram Stoker's Dracula", does not need to reflect on days of old; but in the tradition of Jerry Goldsmith, of The Omen Trilogy repute, strikes foreward and does not, in William's fashion, [borrow] from composers of better times, to create his work. This is a piece to behold. Independent of movie review, or scrutiny, this movement of music should be enjoyed by lovers of the film, or otherwise. This is a "Classical" piece. If they(The filmakers of "The Ninth Gate") create a trilogy, which they won't, then Jerry Goldsmith, of "Omen" legend take notice. Jerry Goldsmith is the greatest of all living movie Score composers, but after this listenting, and after owning the Omen Trilogy for some time now, we have a contender! Lush soundscapes, a feeling of Initiation, as well as repeated tomes of introduction to a later mystery, reveal this artist to be a musician, better than one that would [borrow] for Lucas, namely, John L. Williams. Love is the law, love under Will
