Free Music Notes for Ghosts of the Great HighwayFree Music Review: Phenomenal Hit: 5 StarsI dont hand out many 5 star reviews. This is absolutely wonderful start to finish. He's returned with a album that still sounds like Mark Kozelec but is different than RHP and doesnt let down at any point.
Free Music Review: Wholesome Goodness Hit: 5 StarsMark Kozelek is a genius, and this could be his best. Haunting, beautiful. So good that Mark is forgiven for slipping two versions of the same song onto the record under different names... buy this record!!
Free Music Review: better with time Hit: 5 StarsI wasn't too impressed at first, but then I listened to the album 5x in a row and it really grew on me. I love when that happens...
Free Music Review: Kozelek's Best Yet Hit: 5 StarsWhen I first listened to this CD, I wasn't impressed. In retrospect, I was clearly missing something, because this album is incredible in every sense. There isn't a weak track to be found; each song is revelatory in it's mastery of musicianship, lyrical depth, and vocal ability. It's so rare to find an album this accomplished, where every element is so perfect, from the guitar to the infectious melodies. It's also not a one note effort. Ghosts of the Great Highway runs the gamut from devastatingly emotional journeys like "Floating" and "Last Tide", to the sweet "Gentle Moon", the epic near-psychedelia of "Duk Koo Kim", and the rocking post punk of "Lily and Parrots", and "Salvador Sanchez". I don't expect to hear a better album this year...
