It is astonishing that after 12 years of recording, Mark still has so much to say, musically and lyrically. This album is obssession-inducing. I sometimes sit and play it straight through 4 or 5 times. The melodies, the harmonies, the emotion have never been stronger. It's hard to think of a single artist who is or was still making music this good over a decade into their career. Listening to this album reminds you of how hopelessly sad and terribly beautiful life is, it is like a potion which strips away our thick skins and makes us almost unbearably sensitive to the pain and joy around us. It's almost a physical sensation, an ache in the stomach, a dizziness in the head, a piece of glass in the heart.Free Music Review: Crosby Stills and Nash all over

I have to admit that i've lost my faith in Mark Kozelek since RHP 'Song for a blue guitar' and 'Old Ramon'. I don't even own his solo works (except 'White christmas live which included RHP's live tracks) and i think that he may never do any good works again after he left 4AD but for this new band of Mark, i wish to take a chance (of course, after i've read all other pepple's reviews) and then...It's worth it !!! I can feel many fine and familiar tunes in this album, you can listen through it all again and again with the outstanding tracks 'Carry me ohio' and 'Duk koo kim' it's close to compare to my fovourite RHP's tracks as 'Medecine bottle' and 'Katy song' that i've never found on 'Old ramon' or 'Song for...'. For me, this album should have been released after 'Ocean beach' for one or many reasons. Listen to it and you'll understand what i mean.Free Music Review: and i thought red house painters rocked

I can tell that an album is good when I feel it. If you are into music you will know what I mean. The second I put on this album I connected with it, Duk Koo Kim particularly. Other stand out tracks are Glenn Tipton, Carry Me Ohio, and Floating.
