Free Music Notes for Super Hits Of The '70s: Have a Nice Day, Vol. 18

Free Music Review: The Best
Hit: 5 Stars

In my humble opinion, this is the best of the series. Music of this era is judged by the memories it invokes for me. These are very pleasant, but I believe some of these songs are good enough on their own to be hits today, too.

Free Music Review: echoes from my teenage past
Hit: 5 Stars

hands down my favorite track on this cd is Starland Vocal Band's AFTERNOON DELIGHT. When I was a teenager I heard it so much I think it just buried itself in my subconscious, then after a few years of not hearing it on the radio, I'd wondered if somebody had successfully erased it from the American conscious. I had to look no farther than Amazon in a search. After all these years there it was, and it unlocked a plethora of memories for me. I recalled amusement parks, campgrounds, cookouts, and yes, even a few teenage romances! Keg parties, etc. I can't guarantee it'll do the same for other buyers but there are some songs on this cd you will recognize if you grew up in the 70's

Free Music Review: Great collection of hits from the 70's
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great collection of hits from the 70's. It is packed with hits. It is a great addition to a 70's hits collection.

Free Music Review: Pleasantly Surprised
Hit: 4 Stars

To be honest, I impulsively bought this CD at Best Buy when I couldn't find a copy of Sugar's Copper Blue. No matter--this particular CD contains some of the best singles from 1975-76 for those of us who can't afford iPods. IMO, the two best tracks are the Bellamy Bros. country-tinged "Let Your Love Flow" followed by the gospelly-blues of Elvin Bishop's "Fooled Around And Fell In Love". The amazing sound quality on these two songs makes it hard to believe these tracks are 30 years old! "Dream Weaver" suffers from a horrible edit, but this song is still a classic. Also of note is Starbuck's porn-friendly "Moonlight Feels Right" which contains the best xylophone solo on this side of a cruise ship! Skip tracks 7 thru 9--inclusions could have been "Crazy on You" by Heart or Queen's "You're My Best Friend". Still, 9 good/great songs out of 12 is pretty good for a CD only that cost me $11 Cdn. A real bargain!

Free Music Review: beware of the Dream Weaver
Hit: 3 Stars

Overall, this isn't a bad collection. However, I was highly dissapointed with the mix of Dream Weaver. I remember listening to the song on the radio in the 70s and thinking that the crescendo keyboards leading up to the ending was a very cool piece of music. Unfortunately, whoever mixed this edit did not(find that ending cool), as the song is quickly faded out 60 seconds pre-maturely. Some decent liner notes accompany the CD as well
