Free Music Review: Super Session
Hit: 5 Stars

Of its kind Supersession is the finest "rock n soul" album not only of 1968 when it was issued but of the 1960s and it stands up to anything being done today. Not only is the album (now of course a CD)remastered, but there are four bonus tracks, two of which are the originals without horns, one which hadn't been released, and an additional number. "Albert's Shuffle", "Man's Temptation", "His Holy Modal Majesty", "It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Lot To Cry", and "Season of the Witch" are my favorites. The musicianship and the artistry are second to none. Highly recommended.

Free Music Review: Classic Jam Session
Hit: 2 Stars

I first bought this album when I was about 17, I'm now 52 and I love it now as much as I did then. It is one of those magical mixes that don't happen very often. Like " Hotel California" by The Eagles with Joe Walsh, or Santana Abraxas.

Free Music Review: Season of the Witch
Hit: 4 Stars

While this album was about Bloomfield and Al Kooper, the real story was 'Season of the witch' (a Donovan composition). Bloomfield had his usual bout of insomnia and Steve Stills came in as a substitute. This track is one of the all time greats. Many of the other tracks are Bloomfield memorables and are still worthy however, the Stills track still dominates.

Free Music Review: Fine, fine bluesy rock
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is really a first class picture window into a time when the blues reigned and groups like Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, and other blues/rock progenitors commanded the charts. Exiles Stephen Stills (Buffalo Springfield) Mike Bloomfield (Electric Flag), and Al Kooper (Blood Sweat and Tears) crawled from the wreckage of their former projects to the studio to record 10 hours of sessions and produce this heartfelt blues/rock masterpiece. Everyone plays as if it's their last album, and the mood is one of celebration and exultation in the music.

Free Music Review: Hope springs eternal
Hit: 5 Stars

A classic. Just got it recently and it sounded as good as the 60's when I first heard it. Kooper can produce, Bloomfield can sing and play like he really has the blues (died a heroin addict overdose in SF), and Stills can play guitar and sing like he's happy - a predecessor to CSNY days to come. Someone here made that fuzzy sound, sound good. Could have been two different albums, so no complaints about some of the best lead performances by great prock/blues aetists of the 60's.
