Listening to this is just a delight. The girls sound and harmonize beautifully together as they did in those early days and you can tell these are some of the earlier sessions as they sound tight and solid. Many little perks in this collection. Version 2 of " Fancy Passes" is wonderful and sweet and has Diana interacting with Flo and Mary much like " Back in my arms again". " Our Day will come" has Mary on lead and " People" with Flo in the lead. The version of " All of a sudden" is very good and impressive. Many of the songs are from the live at the Copa album only these are studio versions. If you are a Supremes fan, then this is a must have. Small dissapointment here is the cover. Of all the photos there are of the Supremes a pose from the " Symphony" album was used, in fact it's almost identical to the " Sypmphony" album cover. FABULOUS booklet inside. All in all put together very well.

This is the Supremes as you've never heard them - singing standards. A treasure of classics.
Free Music Review: The Supremes Supper Club Revue Hit: 2 Stars
This album has a couple things going for it - it's the original Supremes of Diana, Mary & Florence, who could sing some beautiful harmonies no matter what the material was. If you happen to like show tunes, you may like this album. My taste is of the original songs that The Supremes recorded , hit after hit, with some excellent album tracks. Show tunes are not a favorite of mine, and listening to most of this unreleased stack of mainly show tune covers made me put on the rockin' blasts of The Marvelettes and Martha & The Vandellas. Berry Gordy wanted The Supremes to appeal to the adults in the night & supper club sets, hence having " his girls " record full albums of standards . I can see why this album was left unreleased in 1965/1966 - it would have done little to add onto their record-setting pile of hits. In hindsight, it's not even that great more than 40 years later. Mary's version of the non-showtune ONE DAY WILL COME is groovy, and a Motown original BIG CITY BABIES DON'T CRY has a gassier title that the song actually is, but the rest is show-tune hell I barely can enjoy giving a listen to. Not even Florence's version of PEOPLE , which also features Diana, and is not a pure Flo solo, doesn't have the power that has been bestowed upon it in account after account. I prefer The Supremes with real Motown music, not singing supper club fare, which hasn't aged like fine wine since 1965.
Free Music Review: Disappointing! Hit: 1 Stars
Of all the things I've ordered from Amazon this cd has to be the most disappointing. I realized it was the Supremes singing old standards, but I thought they would give the songs a little bit of a Supreme twist. To me the songs were slow, the vocals watery and I'm surpised that the Supremes could sound so bad. I really bought the CD because I wanted the song "Somewhere" which although it was played on the radio (in my teens)it was never released. The song held lots of memories for me, but the song on this CD sounded nothing at all like the version that was played on the radio in 1966. I would love to find a recording of "Somewhere" that Diana Ross sang by herself without the 3 piece harmony (but still with the Supremes), but I guess I'll never find it. I was looking forward to getting this CD, but I'll probably never play it.There's a Place for Us

After listening to this CD I understand why Motown never released it. It was out of Diana's range at the time.. I love Diana Ross but this IS NOT Diana at her best!!
