Free Music Review: Susan Proves She Just Will Burn (And Burn Brightly, At That)
Hit: 4 Stars

Make no mistake about it: Susan Tedeschi's biggest asset is not her enormously soulful vocal power, nor is it the rapidly expanding legion of fans and supporters of her undeniable ability as a maturing and deeply sensitive artist. Her biggest asset is her intuitive understanding that her music stands apart from the banal and homogenous crop (feel free to replace the 'o' in "crop" with an 'a') that makes up so much of the rest of what is produced by her feminine contemporaries by remaining true to the simple beauty that defines the blues. Susan obviously could not give a tinker's damn about cluttering up her sound with disposable pop trends, because that ain't what the blues is about. The blues community always, perhaps now more than
ever, eschews what is currently marketable to a mass audience in favor of delivering music with purity, an integrity that comes from the deepest regions of the artist's heart. Wait For Me, Susan Tedeschi's Just Won't Burn "follow-up" truly sparkles with just that sort of heartfelt passion and provides her fans with the reassurance that she has every intention of being in it for the long haul. Tracks such as "Hampmotized" and "I Fell In Love" certainly fulfill the solid rocking promise that was delivered on her 1998 breakthrough release. The sweet ballad "Wrapped In The Arms Of Love" has the potential to make any lonely man envious of that lucky so-and-so Derek Trucks for having whatever it is he's got that swept the lady off her feet. But for sheer melodic power and lush vocal color, "Alone" is the standout number here. Ms. Tedeschi uses this track to display the terrific maturity she has attained over these past few years of continuous touring and performing with her own band, as well as with numerous appearances with Derek, Warren Haynes and Govt. Mule, Phil Lesh and Friends, and gosh knows who else. Upon listening to this album, Susan, we will definitely wait for you. We just hope the wait isn't too long.

Free Music Review: I'm Thankful For The Feeling This Music Brings!
Hit: 4 Stars

Susan Tedeschi is one of the great artists in music today - blues, pop, rock, folk whatever you want to call her. Her 2nd album garnered her a best new artist nomination that she deserved to win. That album, Just Won't Burn, is her best! It combines blues, rock, folk, and a bit of country tinged blues for a kickin' record. Her first album, Better Days, is very rough-hewn and more akin to Just Won't Burn. Here on Wait for Me we see a more subdued Susan Tedeschi. She's seems to be staying strictly with the blues here and focusing less on pop, rock, etc. Whereas earlier we heard some of Janis Joplin in those vocals now we see more of Bonnie Raitt which isn't bad but one longs for an artist who can't be confined by genre. Still, this album is a major success for any fan of real music - blues or otherwise. Highlights here are Alone, Gonna Move, Wrapped in the Arms of Another (really more of a ballad)and The Feeling Music Brings and I Fell in Love which are really the only two songs where Susan rocks and she succeeds in spades. Blues on Holiday is the best track on this record though. It's simple guitar and harmonica accompaniment and Susan's sweet vocals make it one of Susan's best ever.

Susan Tedeschi is a phenom. I hope she gets the recognition in the music world she deserves. Still, something tells me she is just fine singing the blues in blues cafe in front of a small crowd of fans and selling 10 records. She's in the business for the music and that's what I call a true artist. Don't make us wait to long for another album and please folks if you get a chance to see Susan perform live - DO SO!

Free Music Review: Lacks Burn, Gains Class
Hit: 4 Stars

Being a huge fan of "Just Won't Burn", I was highly anticipating the release of Susan's follow up album. I must admit, at first, I too thought it lacked that raw sound that I loved about "Just Won't Burn". It lacks that hard edge and has a slower tempo. This is my reason for 4 out of 5 stars. However, after a few listens the catchy tunes on "Wait For Me" caught me. You can tell right away this album is tighter, flows well from track to track, and has a rich soulful sound. Susan seems to be maturing and branching out as an artist, and I find it refreshing. If you're looking for "Just Won't Burn" Part II, you won't find it in "Wait For Me". Susan's vocals won't disappoint, got to love that voice! My fav tunes are Alone, Wrapped, The Feeling, and Don't Think Twice. I'm enjoying this album loads! Solid job Susan.

Hit: 4 Stars

I pre-ordered this album back in October, and have since eagerly anticipated the Nov. 19th release date. I received it in the mail this afternoon and have already listened to it five times! Susan impresses me more and more all the time. "Gonna Move" and "The Feeling Music Brings" are jewels. The latter was co-written with her husband Derek Trucks, probably better known for his place in the Allman Brothers Band. The bonus track, Susan's cover of Zeppelin's "Rock & Roll" is a great surprise. Her cover of Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" is really special. I truly have nothing bad to say about any of the songs on her new CD. I highly recommend it! :)

Free Music Review: Very good with a little editing
Hit: 4 Stars

Like many, I'm sure, I was blown away by "Just Won't Burn". This is not that album. It is however a very good album, if you "edit out" the following tracks: 3-Wrapped In The Arms of Another, 7-In the Garden and 8-Hampmotized. The first two tracks are pretty little ballads neither emotionally complex nor musically compelling. The 8th track is trivial and should have been left for one of those b-side/previously unreleased albums. Anyway without this 9+ minutes of "music" the album becomes instantly tasty and tight, worthy of a follow up to a gem of an album like "Just Won't Burn".
