I have to agree with the small minority of people who dislike this CD. If you're looking for CD with traditional songs sung in a traditional manner this is not the CD for you (or me). There's a nice variety of familiar songs on this CD, but many of them have been altered to sound "updated" and ended up sounding annoying - especially Pop Goes the Weasel, Monkeys on the Bed and Do Your Ears Hang Low. I skip past those! For a more traditional CD, buy the Disney Children's Songs series (4 inexpensive separate discs - not a set). Free Music Review: We love Childrens Songs!!!! We have such a good time listening to Children's Songs! My 1.5 year old and I wiggle and sing to the great songs! It's like the voice I always thought I sounded like, but she's soulfully good!!! I play the collection of Children Songs for my grandchildren, who love them. I also give other CD's by the singer as presents at baby showers for friends and family. They are wonderful. Susie Tallman's CD's are always popular in our house... and her Children's Songs CD is a perfect addition to our collection! My kids love the fun, rhythmic tunes and I love the variety of instruments used! Its a great introduction for their young ears to begin associating different sounds with different instruments. My kids have fun guessing what they could use around the house to make some of the sounds! Susie's voice is perfect for entertaining kids and parents alike! I highly recommend it! The first time I heard "Children's Songs," it was like I was surfing a wave of nostalgia. Songs my mom used to sing to me years ago popped up time and time again, and now I enjoy singing along with them to my son. I'm a musician and received SO many children's CDs as shower gifts because people thought that's what I would enjoy. I have to say, "Children's Songs" is a breath of fresh air compared to so many of the others I've listened to. Though the songs are standards we've all heard, Tallman approaches her arrangements originally, drawing from many different musical styles to create a truly unique collection of songs your kids will love and one day pass along to their own children.
