Free Music Notes for Classic Nursery RhymesFree Music Review: Great for adults too.... Hit: 5 StarsMost childrens CS are just that for children. This is so clever and fun, you will enjoy it as well. We love it as much as the kids. We even play it on car trips and sing along. It is by far the best childrens CD we own and now buy it for friends and birthday gifts. Thank you for such a great Childrens CD.
Free Music Review: 38 y.o. who loves this one Hit: 5 StarsThis C.D. is really lively and fun! We enjoy listening to it in the car. The voices of the kids are great to hear in some songs. Our whole family sings together. It makes the usual mellow stuff seem really sleepy and lifeless.
Free Music Review: Fun for kids, pleasing to adults Hit: 5 StarsI personally like this CD a lot, and so does my preschooler! It is MUCH more entertaining for adults than most childrens' music. Most kids' CDs have enough mindless repetition and sickeningly sweet music to drive a normal adult insane! This one is different.
While I wouldn't call this CD sophisticated, it does a MUCH better job at keeping us grown-ups entertained. It is so much fun to sing along with in the the car!! Be warned that the collection does include one or two songs that my husband and I cannot stomach due to their sheer repetition. ("Ten Monkeys in the Bed" has all the appeal of "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall." Use the skip button on that one!) But, the other 35 or 36 tracks are great fun!
I think what makes this CD better than average is the mixture of genres (pseudo country, "rap," lyrical readings etc.). This makes for a great deal of variety in the "feel" of the music, and keeps the CD moving. Also, there are some pretty darn cute recordings of British (Australian?) children reading the nursery rhymes out loud.
Free Music Review: Fun CD for babies and toddlers!!!!! Hit: 5 StarsMy 2 grandkids (9 months old and 2 1/2 years old LOVE this CD! They like the music, the "rap"- HICKORY, DICKORY, DOCK- very catchy for young kids, the whole CD is enjoyable! I recommend this for the kids to listen to while they are playing, while they are in the car- very entertaining!!!
Free Music Review: Enjoyable renditions of classic rhymes Hit: 4 StarsWith 37 songs on this CD, only the least discerning listener is going to like every single selection. For some reviewers here, a rap version of "Hickory, Dickory, Dock" is unacceptable. That song doesn't happen to bother me, but I must admit that I more often than not fast forward past "Ten Monkeys in the Bed" and "This Old Man," which I don't like at all. However, most of the songs are very easy on the ear without having the Muzak quality that permeates many children's recordings. Some songs include children's voices; others play games by changing the tempo of the song. My personal favorites include "The Owl and the Pussycat," "Over in the Meadow" and "Old King Cole."
As my toddler son gets older, undoubtedly he too will have songs he loves and those he'd rather not hear from this disc. But overall it offers a good listen, one that has enough variety from song to song that it doesn't get tiresome too quickly.
