Free Music Notes for Sweeney Todd (2007 Film Soundtrack) (Deluxe Edition)Free Music Review: PERFECTION. Hit: 5 Stars
This is an important occasion in my life for it is the first time I have ever taken to a musical soundtrack (which I usually find boring) to the point where I played it while I applied my makeup in the morning, while I ate breakfast, while I drove to work and even while I cooked dinner at night...
I sing Helena's part while I walk my dogs at the dog park, especially the `My Friends' song. Oh, I sing this soundtrack constantly. My co-workers just love it when I break into `By the Sea', which I do at least twice a day, kissing my boss. I sing 'A Little Preist' while I use the snow blower and I don't care who hears me.
This music is addictive. Who cares if Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter aren't the most excellent vocalists on the planet, they are perfect to me. If I ever met Helena, I'd drop to my knees and cry. She's that good in this role. I can't imagine anyone better for Sweeney Todd and I'm glad Tim Burton picked them in his infinite wisdom. This soundtrack helps me get through my boring life and I'm grateful for it!
This is like chocolate for the soul.
Free Music Review: Come One, Come All. The Barber Is In. Hit: 5 Stars
The Deluxe Edition of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street" is just as engrossing as the film itself (though I personally prefer the "Highlights" version, which is just as good, or even better. Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall & Sacha Baron Cohen (HOLY BORAT!!!) can really sing. One of my favourite songs is "Pirelli's Miracle Elixir." Baron Cohen really gave an atypical performance, hamming it up (and clearly enjoying himself while doing it). The only song I feel is out of place in the film (given what happens afterwards) is the heart-wrenching ballad "Not While I'm Around," though I still give this edition five stars ("Not While I'm Around" would fit better as an instrumental in a film version of "Oliver Twist," with the full song playing during the end credits). I'm unfamiliar with the stage play, but the movie is such a wonder to behold. I highly recommend both versions of the soundtrack. You can visualize what is happening as you're listening to the songs. Be Warned: The film is splashy...and not the kind you see in water parks.
Free Music Review: Great Recording Hit: 5 Stars
I am a big fan of Musicals, and I must admit that I had not really been able to get hooked on Sweeney Todd. The stage recordings just didn't do it for me. But I became very interested when Burton was rumored to be involved with the film. And like almost everyone else, I was worried about Johnny's singing abilities. But now after picking this recording up (to give the show another chance) I haven't taken it out of my stereo, all day! In fact while I type this review its playing on my computer! I admit it, I think its great! Johnny and Helena are not Broadway material (you can tell that from the trailers), but they bring something else to their roles. A sense of realism that for some reason connected with me. Their voices are perfect for the roles. Johnny's rough voice in Epiphany, seems so scary, and devilish it is all too perfect. I highly recommend this recording for anyone who is willing to look beyond the stage performers. While it is not vocally perfect, it is fun and I enjoyed it! I look forward to seeing the film!
Free Music Review: You know the movie was great and we all know these actors aren't singers but they did a REALLY good job Hit: 5 Stars
OF COURSE we all know
the real MUSICAL had REAL singers
but i really believe that johnny depp, sacha, and all the others did really good jobs in making those characters their OWN. I was amazed by Johnny's voice especially, it was stuttle, strong and really genuine. i enjoyed the MOVIE and the SOUNDTRACK is equally nice. I know alot of you love the play and expect HIGH things from the movie and soundtrack but you gotta give these guys a break. i think TIM BURTON is a mastermind and all the actors put a little spin on the original songs but the turned out nicely. I'm glad the way it turned out because, if i wanted it to be the SAME EXACT SOUND and ACTING as the PLAY...i would've went to see the play, you know?
Also, I personally loved the fact that all the actors went through the trouble to do ENGLISH accents.. (unlike in the plays)
it was very nice and it is MOST DEFINATLY worth the money.
I'm sure this movie and soundtrack will be an INSTANT classic!
Free Music Review: Try the priest! Hit: 5 Stars
My friends and I, on a whim, went and saw the movie and were completely surprised at how dark and at the same time how hilarious it truly was! We had to get the soundtrack and memorize the songs. The songs are funny and differ from up beat to mellow. Johnny Depp surprisingly has a really great singing voice.
The songs are a lot of fun to memorize and sing a long to while driving down the road or out in public with friends. Seriously, this is a great buy. I wanted it badly on CD.
In this version of the CD, all of the songs come with it. That means that a few of them, like the final song, aren't edited and fit with the movies format. This may not be what everyone wants but it's exactly what I wanted and what I prefer. I liked the songs in the movies format, and this one includes everything I wanted, including part of the talking scenes. Great buy!
