Free Music Notes for Sweeney Todd (2007 Film Soundtrack) (Deluxe Edition)

Free Music Review: dont let this escape your collection, excellent
Hit: 5 Stars

I have not seen this movie, I ordered the complete soundtrack after hearing the highlight version. I am also reading the book that is also very good. The score is beautiful and original and the singing is so suprising I am not able to find enough opportunities to play it from beginning to end. I will say this, I have discovered the major themes of the ending of the story by the closing scene featured on the completed disc. I am not upset by that of course, all the more excitement to the dvd release coming the first of April. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp how can you miss. I have discovered that by listening to this cd I have a great sympathy for Mr. Todd, evil as he was per the reading that I have done. I wonder what the DVD will leave me with? Please buy this cd if you are a fan of musicals, story telling, and scores that are unforgetable.

Free Music Review: Fantastic but be prepared...
Hit: 5 Stars

This movie is totally true to the original Broadway show, so I don't understand all the complaints about it being so dark, or the singing not being as good as say "South Pacific"! I saw this show on Broadway many years ago and I have the original Broadway Production DVD starring Angela Landsbury. The critics who made fun of Bonham-Carter apparently never heard Angela (who I adore) sing those very same lyrics. Depp sings surprisingly well, and holds the mood of the original show. Yes, the movie is macabre, dark, gory and bloody.... BUT SO WAS THE ORIGINAL SHOW ON BROADWAY. The movie IS so totally true to the show! The only difference is that the movie was able to add so much more with the changing scenery, etc. Don't eat lunch before seeing the movie... and maybe not for several hours afterward either. But if you love Depp, you'll love this.

Free Music Review: It's amazing, and is a standalone film
Hit: 5 Stars

Okay, so people complain that it's not as exciting and comical as the stage version, but that's the thing. It's NOT the stage version of Sweeney Todd. Tim Burton focuses more on the eerie aspects of the story, and the vocals, though they aren't amazing (since most of the actors haven't had musical experience), it's not supposed to be all about the singing. Depp's acting in his singing brings out the character much more. The fact that everyone keeps a british accent even in the songs also makes it feel more realistic since they are in London. Overall, this is an amazing soundtrack, and I saw the movie, so it was astounding to see Tim Burton's amazing vision. Frankly , not other director could've pulled it off. It's an amazing film, great music, and another Burton/Depp masterpiece. Now I can't wait for the dvd.

Free Music Review: How About A Shave?
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow. Simply wow. This soundtrack is the best I have heard since The Nightmare Before Christmas. The score is incredibly gorgeous. And yes, the vocals aren't very stong, but that adds to the overall feel of the songs. Which from what I have heard, is just the way Tim Buton wanted it. I would have been disappointed if the actors had gotten professional voice lessons because their rough untrained voices add to the eeriness and realism of the music. They sound exactly like you would expect people from Victorian London to sound. Everytime I listen to this CD, I can perfectly picture the scenes from the movie. My favorite song would have to be My Friends, becasue.....well just because. All in all, a fantastic soundtrack for anyone who loved the movie as much as I did. 5 morbid stars to you Mr.Todd.

Free Music Review: Johnny Depp singing?!
Hit: 5 Stars

Yes, when my dad's girlfriend and I heard about Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, we were both very excited. Tim Burton is a genious and we both love Johnny Depp to death. She already knew what the movie was about to so she filled me in (she knew about the play long before the movie was made).

We love musicals and before either of us went to see it I bought this. It came with the CD and all the lyrics so, needless to say, her and I both knew ALL the musical lines before we even went to see it! Totally worth the money if you love the movie.

And even now, we're both stealing the disc from one another to listen to it at random times in the day. I'm even thinking of buying another one for her! Just so I can garauntee she won't hide my copy when I move out!
