A "must have" for any Johnny Depp fan. We always knew he could act.. now we know he can sing too! This CD does total justice to Stephen Sondheim's music and lyrics. If I had to choose some favorites, they would have to be, "My Friends, The Worst Pies in London, and the haunting duet with Alan Rickman, Pretty Women." I couldn't wait for this soundtrack to come out, and I must say I wasn't disappointed in the least. I recommend this CD highly.Free Music Review: Film is Not Theater

Reviewers who compare the film version of Sweeney Todd to the stage production apparently don't understand the difference between the two. In film, you don't sing to the balcony. I find some of the performances on the stage recordings to be over the top and even hammy, especially Patti Lupone's. The recent DVD of the Sweeney Todd recital was a complete disappointment. I have long been a Sweeney Todd fan, but this remake of Sondheims masterpiece was truly outstanding. Who would have guessed that Johnny Depp could sing? I didn't think any production could be better than the one with Angela Landsbury and Len Cariou, but this one really blew me away. I also bought the soundtrack. Watched the DVD twice in a row and again the next day. I love this movie!Free Music Review: Excellent!

I loved the film because the songs are amazing, therefore, this CD is brillant. Johnny Depp's voice is intense, along side Helena Bonham-Carter and Alan Rickman, who I believe give the most satsifying performance of their career. This CD is well worth the money! It even comes with the lyrics and pictures in a handle little booklet, tucked away with the CD itself. Amazing buy.
