I first bought the Highlights version when I was passing by a Virgin because I wanted to have it in a better quality than VBR MP3 and I was really disappointed when I found out, while listening, that this version was lacking two tracks and also cutting some...
I then bought the complete edition on Amazon and this was exactly the one ! I've encoded it on Lossless for my iPod and it still gave me the chills everytime I hear the introduction theme...
The packaging is a little bit disturbing though, you've got a cardboard box with a normal CD box and the booklet, while it could have been a beautiful digipack. But still, the booklet is magnificient, with notes from Tim Burton, stills from the movie, spaced lyrics, it's a real pleasure to read while listening !
And if you pay like me in Euros, you can get it for a so low price you will not hesitate twice before clicking buy ^^

When I first saw the preview for this movie, despite its rating, I knew I was going to see it. I love Johnny Depp, and wondered if it he could pull it off as a singer...and hell I was right!
This movie really brings out the emotion of Todd's misjudged character, and killer (literally) charm. Johnny Depp, though not perfect in singing, he really pulls it off for his experience. I think he got robbed for Best Actor, he really had to experiment and live with this character. The Final Scene made me cry, with his lost and sad emotion...Johnny Depp was perfectly cast!
Everyone else was wonderful, except that Helena Bonham Carter needed more training (or use someone else's voice like in Phantom of the Opera). I loved how they used new actors for Antony and Joanna, they really brought out the innocent love between them, and great voices! Alan Rickman (a.k.a. Professor Snape) really is a twisted pervert with a capital P!!! He should've been at least nominated for Best Supporting Actor with the massive experience he has at being villans! Oh well, here are some favs!

4. The Contest (gotta love Borat for his guest appearance!)
5. Green Finch and Linnett Bird (so cute and well done!)
6. Joanna (both versions)
7. Epiphany (Mesmerizing violins and Johnny's shining moment!!!)
8. A Little Priest (clever and hilarious)
9. Not While I'm Around (such a cute boy!)
10. Final Scene (depressing...but great close)
The overall soundtrack is wonderful, despite I've heard many songs were cut out (maybe there will be more on special features...). But if you haven't seen the movie, or just need to like a new musical, this is the one to like! Don't listen to it if you haven't seen the movie yet, it will spoil the ending!!! Besides, its always good to be surprised at the performances at the theater... AMAZING!

...sorry helena, really loved your acting, i did, but i definitely prefer Ms Lansbury's or Ms. Lupone's interpretation of the songs.
BUT the score never sounded more lush than here. (I'll never understand though why they cut "the ballad", and i really miss "Kiss me" my favorite)

I have not seen this movie, I ordered the complete soundtrack after hearing the highlight version. I am also reading the book that is also very good. The score is beautiful and original and the singing is so suprising I am not able to find enough opportunities to play it from beginning to end. I will say this, I have discovered the major themes of the ending of the story by the closing scene featured on the completed disc. I am not upset by that of course, all the more excitement to the dvd release coming the first of April. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp how can you miss. I have discovered that by listening to this cd I have a great sympathy for Mr. Todd, evil as he was per the reading that I have done. I wonder what the DVD will leave me with? Please buy this cd if you are a fan of musicals, story telling, and scores that are unforgetable.Free Music Review: Welcome to the Grave....

Just buy it. But if you are not familiar with this movie, then I suggest that you buy the movie... watch it... and when you fall in love with the songs, then buy this copy, cause it has all 20 songs, and an 80 page booklet. So it's a sweet deal.
