Wow! This is one hot swing collection! :-) It's got really great classic swing hits, along with some rare/previously unreleased versions of some of the songs. Not too many of the songs were re-recorded, either, which gives it that classic touch, but I must admit that I love the mix they did of "Life Goes To A Party" and "Jumpin' At The Woodside"! If you think Swing Is King, then you'll LOVE this CD! (Note: The non-swing tracks on the CD aren't that great, but you can always program your CD player for the swing tracks only! ;-) )Free Music Review: Swing classics modernized

The best part of this soundtrack is the modern jazz band version of Benny Goodman's SING,SING,SING. The recording is very crisp and powerful. Even though the song time has been cut just about in half,its still gets you movin. Stompin at the woodside is another really jammin tune. There are about 4 or 5 swing songs (some original,some remakes)that make this album more than worth owning. The other songs which were written for the film are too mellow and less to be desired. You can always skip them. The film itself is actually not a bad film either.Free Music Review: Proof that swing lives on, baby!

The movie is heart-wrenching and the swing is hot. I love all the swing tracks on this album, and I even listen to some parts of the score. My favorite track, without a doubt, is "Bei Mir Bist du Schon". It's a wonderful song with a lot of feeling in it. The album's version of "Sing, Sing, Sing" is a great tribute to Benny, and "It Don't Mean A Thing" is fun and quirky. "Life Goes to a Party/Jumpin' at the Woodside" is pure hot. This is the best CD. It has everything. The get off your butt and dance!! swing music. And the sad sweet melodies from the sound track. The movie was wonderful. I cry everytime I watch it, and also when I hear the songs from the sad parts of the movie. If you haven't seen the movie you must go and rent it. It is an amazing glimpse into one of history's darkest eras. into the lives of a group of friends, who through their music rebel agaist the Nazi society. World War II truly was a dark chapter in our history. In the movie "Swing Kids", a new aspect of life in Germany under Hitler during this time period is brought to life. And, as we all know, music can be the difference between an average movie and a really great one. "Swing Kids" is an excellent movie about a large group of young people who refuse to join Hitler's regime. It is made even better by the music on this soundtrack. This is a must have for jazz listeners of all types!
