Free Music Review: Barrett the Farrit
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is one of my favorites. The music can be so calm and chill and it feels as though you are sitting inside Syd's mind and flying around. The lyrics are so simple-yet they have so much meaning and this can be seen just by listening to songs such as Wined and Dined, Dominoes, Gigolo Aunt, I Never Lied to You, and more. The sounds themselves are eccentric but relaxing or classic-feeling. The genre is rock of course, but Barret combines many other such as folk and blues. Listen to this album and feel Syd Barrett. The songs are so odd, it's almost comforting on any day and for any mood. You kind of grow with them and adjust each one to your preferences of listening. I guarantee there is a song for you on this album, much the entire album could be for you. Listen to it-you won't regret it. Plus, he's nothing like you've ever heard of in that he is so unique, but still so simple!

Free Music Review: Lemonade
Hit: 5 Stars

Though not as good or impressive as 'The Madcap Laughs', there's still NO WAY THIS ALBUM COULD BE BETTER! 'Baby Lemonade' is a classic, that perhaps even surpasses anything on the previous record, 'No Good Trying' and 'Dark Globe' excluded, and arguably any of Syd's work with Floyd, 'See Emily Play' excluded.
'Wined and Dined' is a stunningly attractive and close-to-divine song, a little bit realted to 'Here I Go' from the previous record, but arguably better.
'Love Song', 'Dominoes' and 'It Is Obvious' make up a strong foundation for the record, while 'Rats' and 'Maisie' are a stranger kind of beauty. 'Gigolo Aunt' shows off Syd's whimsical side, and the poppy 'Waving My Arms In The Air' is another essential highlight!

Free Music Review: Barrett Kicks Butt!
Hit: 5 Stars

I wasn't born in the sixties and I wasn't the biggest fan of Pink Floyd but I have heard them. I was hearing much talk about Syd Barrett's music and thought there is so much talk about his music esp this cd here. so I purchased this cd and listened to it and wasn't able to turn it off. The songs are so awesome! I love everyone of these songs and normally I'm maybe I might like one or two songs from a cd but for the first time I discovered I loved the full cd. This cd has so much to offer and if your undecided just listen to the samples but they don't justify the complete songs in full. I have every Syd Barrett Cd made out there but this one is one of the greatest one's to me. what can I say. I Love It!

Free Music Review: The best lyricist ever
Hit: 5 Stars

The lyrics in this albums have a simple charm to them that is unmatched throughout music. Many rock 'n' rollers fall into trouble when they try to be profound. Syd doesn't make this mistake. At times it seems like he's not trying to say anything at all, and he may not... but there is an honesty about everything he says. In most music, sometimes you get the feeling that a lyric is there in order to complete a rhyme or just for the hell of it. Conversely, every word in Barrett is there because that's where it's supposed to be.

This album eclipses anything that Syd did with Pink Floyd. It's also much different from that material, less serious (if that's possible) I would say.

Free Music Review: Madness: it takes one to know one
Hit: 5 Stars

Barrett is a fine album, a bit choppy and unrefined, but spotted by such wonderful explosions of chaos (Rats whips me into a frenzy every time I hear it.) It also provides some fine juggling of the English language (The Effervescing Elephant has great metre, Rats has a wonderful rhythm (comparable to Cirrus Minor)) and every song has very creative lyrics. I don't recommend this album to any superficial Floyd fans who can only extend their affection to The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon, while, with supercillious airs, spurn Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Saucerful of Secrets ("Gee, this music's getting creepy...")
